The word HTML might seem a little scary to you at first. You were probaly wondering what it means.
First, HTML stands for Hyper Text Markup Language, as you might of had reconized, each webpage
you go to has a .html or .htm extension (there is also a .cgi .asp and .pl but they do not have
anything to do with what we are talking about right now), look at the bottom of your browser and
point your mouse
over here. You see the "Shortcut to SEE!!!.html" message appear? By the
way, a link may be a
some text, or a picture. By clicking on a link, it will bring you to another webpage or to another
place on the same page, like this. (By the way that was called an anchor, it will be discussed later.)
Ok, now HTML is a language, the browser reads it and does what the language told it to do. For
example, go to the VIEW option in the menu bar of your browser and choose source, Notepad should
come up (this depends on your browser, for Internet Explorer it is Notepad, for Netscape, it is it's own viewer,
either way something should come up) and show you alot of text like
