Verona Magdalena Ludington Jones


Feb. 1, 1913 - July 27, 2002

Verona was born in 1913 to Harvey Samuel Ludington and Gertrude Lena Gilbert (Gulbrandsen) in Seattle, Washington. She attended Ballard High School. In 1934 Verona married Loren Adelbert Jones, son of George H. Jones and Bertha Mabel Potts. Loren and Verona had 3 children - Frederick LeRoy b/1936, Verona b/1938 - d/1938 of pneumonia, and Loren Adelbert Jr. b/1939. Verona and Loren lived in Seattle until 1942 when they moved to Bremerton, Washington due to Loren's working in the Shipyard. Verona worked as a waitress at the Mission Cafe on 4th street until she obtained a position in the shipyard working in the optical shop. Verona then transferred to the Supply Department where she worked until her retirement from the Naval Supply Center in 1972. Verona was active in the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Ladies Auxilliary, serving in the Drill Team and holding all officer positions including Madam President. She is currently active as a Past Madam President in the lodge activities. Loren and Verona belonged to a Citizens Band Radio club (Peninsula Pacers) and enjoyed travelling in their motor home all over the west coast.
