Annual Service Procedure

Before removing water from the stove, check!!!

1. For external leaks outside of stove including all gaskets.

2. All valves for leaks and operation.

3. Front and rear door gaskets.

4. Fan for proper operation.

5. Fan damper to see proper positioning.

6. Door damper for proper operation and condition.

7. Aquastat for proper operation.

8. Thermostat for operation and in relation with Aquastat.

9. Hinges and door handle for proper operation.

10. Sight tube; if need to replace.

11. Inside of door for concrete damage.

Proceed with emptying stove and cleaning of stove as follows;

1. Turn off stove.

2. Turn down all thermostats (so that circulators will not turn on).

   Shut all zone valves.
   empty stove of all hot ashes inside of fire box (so fire box will    not warp).

5. Disconnect lowest return zone, (if using 1" ball valve, leave
   valve connected to stove and remove fitting and pipe).

6. If not using 1" zone valve, take off present valve and install
   1" ball valve with 1" pipe to hose adapter, depending on
   size hose and pump using to pump out tank water (2" hose
   . and semi-waste pump prefurred for saving time).

7. - Hookup pump to suction and discharge hoses. Discharge
   hose to storage tank (500 gallon tank preferred).

8. Start pump and open zone valve to empty water to storage
   tank (make sure all other zone valves are CLOSED).

9. While water is emptying, remove back door and front flue
   cover and clean all tube and flue thoroghly with cone and
   brush and scaper. Also scrape front and rear door area

. where door gasket meets door opening. If gasket is bad,
  relace. Clean stove pipe.

10. Check all welding seams for starting of leaks and separation
    due to use and age,

11. Check tubes for any starting of corrosion due to creosote
    build up for long period of time without cleaning.

12. Empty fire box completlely; check welding seams for any .

    corrosion starting.

    ^Rake out anti-corrosion rod; check diameter (if rod is more
     than half gone, replace with new rod using pipe thread
     compound; if not, reinstall rod using pipe thread compound).

14. After tank water is down to bottom zone. disconnect pump
    suction hose from adapter and put into tank.

15. Check tank water (using Taylor Test Kit) following directions in     test kit for past-year usage of Taylor Water
    Treatment. Make note on customer's record and on
    customer's bill (for reference).

16. Add recommended amount of Taylor Water Treatment
    per size stove to tank water and circulate in tank for 10
    minutes or more; retest water and note results on
    customer's record and customer's bill.

17. Take out bung or plate in back of stove under rear door
    and while water is comming out, take 4" round brush or
    equivalent on a long rod (long enough to reach front of
    stove) and scrub bottom of tank thoroughly especially left
    side under anti-corrosion rod (due to rod falling off and
    lying on bottom of tank).

18. Flush tank with hose and inspect with flashlight to make
    sure all debris is removed from tank.

19. Check tank for any signs of corrosion and make note on
    customer's record.

20. Reinstall bung or plate.

21. Repair any leak in valves or gaskets. If any valves are
    replaced, bleed the system again after the water is
    returned into tank.

22. Take discharge hose and install it on bottom of zone while
    leaving suction hose in tank.

23. Pump water back into tank. When storage tank is empty,
    turn valve off so the water will not return to storage tank.

24. Disconnect hose and valve, reinstall original valve, and
    hook up zone pipe. If insulation was disturbed, repair and
    retape area.

25. Top off stove with water and check for leaks.

26. Bleed system to make sure there is no air in the system.
    Turn on all zone valves.

27. Restart stove.

28. Turn thermostats up to desired temperture.

29. Recommend to customer that the stove be grounded to.
    prevent electrolysis.
