Hi All,

After getting really confused about the different versions of the FTF video, I ended up contacting Fox's home entertainment section to find out what was going on.

According to the person I spoke to, there are 2 versions of the video:

1 - With the 30 min "Making of The X-Files Movie Special" (this is the one that was screened here [on Channel 10] prior to FTF's cinema release last year). This version is available at KMart, Target and Fosseys.

2 - With the Gillian Anderson and Chris Carter exclusive interview (which is around 5 minutes long). This version is available everywhere else.

When I asked why this had happend, the answer was to give the publicity/promotion department something to do.

The X-Files CD was released in the summer of 1998. It combined three different movie trailers in the Screendragon movie format along with a complete facsimile of the Official X-Files web site as well as some music tracks from the X-Files Audio CD.

Several promotions have so far been released for the X-Files and copies of the CD can be found as far apart as Spain and Australia.

• A reminder that David Duchovny's Red Shoe Diaries makes it's Australian network debut tonight on channel 10. It didn't actual make it to air. There was a last minute scheduling change and a movie screened in it's place. It's in the TV guide for next week so we'll wait and see.
• ... and the 51st Annual Emmy Awards will screen on Channel 10 on Monday at 8:30pm.
• I received a flyer the other day for a Collectables Fair which will be held at the Parramatta Town Hall (in Sydney) on Sunday November 14, commencing at 8am. Entry is $5 or $2.50 from 10am. Expect some X-Files merchandise to be on sale.
• If you live in Brisbane, Myers has some X-Files posters at framed prints at 50% off. [From Kerry on ausxfnews]
• Yesterday's Entertainment Tonight had a piece on the new (US) fall shows -- of which The X-Files was one. The show will be repeated on Monday at 11.30am on Channel 9/WIN. [From Angie on ausxfnews]

Meanwhile, that other screen-hopping hunk, David Duchovny, has tired of searching for the truth and will make this his last season of The X-Files. However, he will continue making X-Files movies with Gillian Anderson, and he has a new film due out next year - a romantic comedy with Minnie Driver called Return To Me.

• It seems that new X-Files merchandise is getting harder to find, or simply doesn't exist. As for old stuff, there are some bargains to be had if you're lucky enough to stumble across them. During the last week's lunch-time wanderings in Sydney I managed to pick up a copy of The X-Files Postcard Book: Monsters and Mutants for $3.95 (compared to the original price of $14.95) at Dymocks. I also spotted quite of a few of the teen novels on sale for just $1 at various locations including Comic Kingdom, Dymocks and Basement Books in the QVB while Fight The Future novel was selling for $3.50 in Angus and Robertsons.
• The Bree Sharp "David Duchovny" single was released on Monday (August 30) and can be found in any good music store.
• Playing By Heart was reviewed in this week's TV Week. They gave it three stars but there was no mention of Gillian Anderson.
• Madelaine Duchovny has made her first magazine cover. She appears on the front of this week's New Weekly. Inside there's a two page spread including a short article and photos of Madelaine and her nanny; David Duchovny and Tea Leoni relaxing on a park bench; DD throwing a frisbee; Tea Leoni with a tennis racket and Blue (the dog) running in front of her; and a blurry photo of Madelaine with her mum Tea.
  

  The Child Gets Out There
  It was her first major outing, but David Duchovny and Tea Leoni's baby Madelaine took it all in her stride. This is the first real glimpse of X-Files star David Duchovny and actress Tea Leoni's baby. Although it was the first time little Madelaine was not deliberately shielded from the public view by her parents, she seemed accustomed to all the attention. Sporting a pink sun-hat, she looked every inch the beach baby.
  
  Just like any other happy family frolicking down at the seaside David, 39, and Tea, 33, had some fun in the sun with a few close friends on the beach near their Malibu home. Of course, fun is always easy to come by when there's a nanny, close at hand to mind the baby as you surf, play tennis and stroll along the beach.
  
  Ever the action man, David showed some true surfing style as he caught a few waves, and later had a taxing game of frisbee with the family dog. But he and Tea still had some time for each other, and seemed every inch the loving couple as they snuggled on a park bench, shaded under a tree.
  
  The family then popped off to pick up some groceries and, tucked safely in her nanny's arms, four-month-old Madelaine looked more than content after a hard day in the sun.

• There was a story in the Daily Telegraph (Wednesday, I think) about TV soundtracks; with The X-Files mentioned along with a photo. That days' paper also had a feature article on the new Fox Studios with a brief snippet saying the back-lot would inlcude a set from the X-Files.
• There was another X-Files competition in the last issue of Take 5, if you can still find it. You had to complete a puzzle, write the answer on the form and mail it in. They had 10 X-Files video packs to give away which included, The X-Files Movie: Special Edition, The X-Files Restricted Access, The Movie CD and the book Skin.
