Tachikawa

How about taking a day trip to the city of Tachikawa? You can get there easily by using the Chuo-Line from Tokyo station and then the Ohme-line from Tachikawa station. These are some pictures of Showa Memorial Park and the Tama City Monorail. First we would like to show you Showa Memorial Park in Tachikawa. The nearest station to it is East Japan Rail's Nishi-Tachikawa station. Showa Memorial Park is managed by the government. This park is very large and beautiful, and there is a good cycling course. We can have fun all day.

This is the beautiful fountain plaza. we can see from the gate that it is in a European-style plaza. The leaves of the ginkgo trees have begun to change from green to yellow in autumn. We can have a relaxing time here.
At the center of the park there is a large open area where people can play games or have a picnic lunch. At the center, there is a large tree which has often been used on TV dramas.
North of this open area is a traditional Japanese garden. It has a large pond and a tea house. It is a very beautiful place with a calm and peaceful atmosphere. We recommend this garden.
In Showa Memorial Park we can see a lot of flowers in each season. For example, we can see cherry blossoms in spring, sunflowers in summer, and cosmos in autumn. Here is a picture of some cosmos swinging in the light wind.

This is the Tama City Monorail which passes through Tachikawa. It is the first north-south railroad link through the city. The northern section was opened in November,1998,and southern link was opened in January, 2000. We can see Mt.Fuji and many mountains through the window of the monorail. This monorail is expected to expand the local economy.
