She's A Wild, Crazy Mountain Dog!!
Well, the other day, me and Maxine were in the car driving to work, and she noticed...(ok..I brought it to her attention) that there was a dog in the car next to us on the freeway! It cracks me up, because she goes nuts whenever she sees another dog in a car! We're goin 65+mph, and shes barkin like crazy and jumpin on the window sill towards the other dog! We went several miles before the other dog even saw her!! And when he did, he started goin nuts too! To hear audio of this exchange, click here One time, when I first moved down from the mountains to the city, I was at a gas station getting gas...The car window was down and Max was in the back seat. Well all of a sudden...She jumps out the car window and starts chasing this truck down the street that had a dog in the back of it!! Boy she musta ran a 1/2 mile!! The gas station attendant couldn't believe it! Click here to hear what he said! Aww dont worry...She came back as soon as she realized she couldn't CATCH it!!! Of course, after that incident, she started wearing her Some people think that sounds mean, but it's not! Really! One lady saw her with her chain and said "aww, look at that poor dog dragging that long chain!" I replied "lady, thanks for caring, but that chain on her is equivalent to us wearing a WRISTWATCH!!! Ya know, huskies are...SLED DOGS!!! Of course, those same type of people also think that letting a dog chase a car is mean! And actually she loves it!! And yes, it is completely safe!! We go to the park and she runs on the grass...usually ahead of me!! But thats just the warm up! Then I get out and we go for a 2 mile walk through the park. After that she is usually relaxed for the night. But shes only 3 and has alot of energy. There are even published books on the market about running with your dog, and one has a whole chapter specifically on running your dog with a car!! No, I'm not making this up! She runs 35 mph!! One last thing about dogs... My dog was sick a couple weeks ago, so I took her to the vet to see what the problem was. The vet said that she had an infection, and to pick her up in a couple hours. Well when I came to pick her up, I got a groggy drugged-out dog and a bill for $240 !! And the thing is, the vet gave me no forewarning that it would be that much!! I mean, I don't pay that much when I go to the doctor! And mine's an M.D.!! I didn't think to ask for an estimate! Anyways, I just think it was sneaky and dishonest to charge that much for a minor problem without any warning. But at that point, they've got your dog held hostage in their back room! So I had to pay it, but I'm not going back to that place, and I just thought I'd warn you to ALWAYS ASK, even if it SEEMS like a small thing. (heck, I could've bought ten new healthy dogs for that price!) No, just kidding.
