Salvatore Luciano is also known as Charles and Lucky. Luciano was born in Sicily in 1897. His family came to the lower east side of New York in 1906. He was first arrested in 190. Luciano joined up with the Five Points Gang. He was trained under John Torrio and became good friends with Al Capone. He started his own prostitution racket in 1920. He had contol of prostitution by 1925 in Manhattan. He then began taking over the whorehouses. Luciano was a millionaire by 1927. He had $22,500 as an income from gambling. He set up the National Commision of LCN.

Luciano was kidnapped in 1929. He was beaten and stabbed with an icepick. Suprisingly, he survived. The police questioned him, but he maintained the code of Omerta. At the end of the 1920's, he got rid of players opposed to his plans with the help of Siegel and Lansky. At the time, gangland war between Joe "The boss" Masseria and Salvatore Marahzano prevented him from aligning all gangs, so he had them eliminated. By 1935, Luciano was the "Boss Of Bosses." He had established Murder Inc. with Lansky and Siegel. Luciano's criminal activities led to his being investigated by District Attorney Thomas E. Dewey. He had gathered enough evidence to get Luciano on ninety counts of extortion and prostitution.

He was then sentenced to thirty to fifty years. Luciano was a powerful Mafia member who had connections with Sicily. The United States government approached him with a deal. The Allied forces in WWII needed help in their invasion of Sicily. In exchange for his assistance in the Allied invasion of Sicily, he would be released to Rome, Italy. Luciano contacted ,his Mafia associates in Italy and made the deal. He was not liking the way things were going in the US. He had a meeting with Siegel, this resulted in his murder a few years later. Luciano had been in Havana, the US authorities heard about this. He was forced back to Italy where he went into retirement. He then wanted to make a movie of his life. In January 1962, he went to Naples to meet an American movie producer. As he walked up at the airport to the producer, he grabbed his chest. He died of a heart attack. His funeral was the biggest ever seen in Napoli.
