Jack McGurn

McGurn was also known as "Machine Gun." He was born James DeMora and lived in Chicago. His father sold moonshine and the Genna gang of Chicago's Little Italy murdered him because he didn't ask for their approval. They say: Jack McGurn soaked his hands in his father's blood and swore revenge on his killers. McGurn joined up with Al Capone. McGurn became one of Capone's top hit men. McGuen was known for comitting 25 murders for Capone. Six of those were from the Genna gang. McGurn wouls often press a nickel into the hand of the victim.

McGurn held Albert Anselmi and John Scalise when Capone beat and murdered the men. McGurn was also suspected of being the planner and gunner of the St.Valentine's Day Massacre. McGurn had part ownership in about seven night clubs. He spent a tremendous amount of money at the clubs.

McGurn's popularity began to drop when Capone went to prison. Other members of the didn't like him very much. He was pushed out of many rackets and left with his nightclub ownership. The clubs began to go down because of the depression. His wife also left him. He was getting by with small narcotics deals. On February 13th, 1936 McGurn was shot in a bowling alley. Two gunmen were friends of his. (Not very good friends..huh) They left a nickel in his right hand and a comic book by his body. To this day, they do not know who kiled McGurn.
