After graduation from high school, Dwayne enrolled in East Central University in Ada and majored in Music Education. After three solid years of classes, he had a change of heart, became a PreMedical Chemistry major, and set his sights on medical school. It was also at this time that Dwayne and Tim met while the two were performing together at Six Flags Over Texas in Arlington. Over the next three years, while Dwayne poured over biochemistry and anatomy books, Tim would call periodically to tell him about all of the exciting things that were happening as he pursued his music career. Then, in 1986, Tim called to tell Dwayne that he was in Nashville, singing at Opryland, seeing country music stars everywhere he went, and that Dwayne should move there and go for it. Dwayne really missed making music, and he always wondered just how far he could have gone if he stayed with it. So, after much soulsearching, he made the decision. The day after earning his degree, Dwayne left for Nashville to see if he could make a living as a musician, First it was Opryland, then the Varsities, and then Little Texas.
