Angel Guardian Prayer

Angel of God, my guardian dear

To whom God's love commits thee here

Ever this night be at my side

To light and guard, to rule and guide. Amen.

Angel Guardian Prayer of St. Gertrude

O most holy angel of God, appointed by God to be my guardian, I give thee thanks for all the benefits which thou has ever bestowed on me in body and soul. I praise and glorify thee that thou has condescended to assist me with such patient fidelity, and to defend me against all the assaults of my enemies.

Blessed be the hour in which thou wast assigned my guardian, my defender and my patron. In acknowledgement and return for all thy loving ministries to me, I offer thee the infinitely precious and noble heart of Jesus, and I firmly promise to obey thee henceforeward, and most faithfully serve my God. Amen.

St. Michael Chaplet

St. Michael appeared to the Servant of God, Antoniia d' Astonac, revealing that it was God's wish that he (St. Michael) and the angels were to honored with nine saluations in the form of the chaplet below.

St. Michael promised that whoever practiced this devotion in his honor would be escorted by nine angels, one from each of the choirs, when approaching the Holy Table (the altar, in order to receive Holy Communion).

To those who prayed the chaplet daily, St. Michael also promised both his and that of all the holy angels' assistance throughout life, after death, and deliverance from Purgatory for themselves and their relatives.

The Chaplet of St. Michael consists of nine sets of prayers. Each set of prayers consists of one Our Father, the "angel choir" dedication prayer, and three Hail Mary's. Each group is dedicated to one of the nine choirs of angels.

There is an actual "bead chaplet" to assist one in keeping count of the prayers. At first glance, it represents a rosary. However, instead of a crucifix, the chaplet is endowed with either a St. Michael Medal or an Angels Medal . While a set of rosary beads has one Our Father and ten Hail Mary beads with a total of five "sets" on each rosary, the St. Michael Chaplet differs in the following way: Each set of beads consists of one "lead" bead (for the Our Father) and three following beads (for the three Hail Mary prayers). There are nine such sets on the chaplet.

How to pray the Chaplet: Begin with the following prayer on the St. Michael Medal:

Incline unto my aid, O God.

O Lord, make haste to help me.

Glory be, etc.

Beginning with the first "lead bead" of each set, pray the following prayers.

1st Lead Bead: Our Father prayer. By the intercession of St. Michael and the heavenly choir of the Seraphim, may it please God to make us worthy to receive into our hearts the fire of His perfect charity.

Next 3 beads: Hail Mary, once each bead.

2nd Lead Bead: Our Father prayer. By the intercession of St. Michael and the heavenly choir of the Cherubum, may God in His good pleasure grant us grace to abandon the ways of sin and follow the path of Christian perfection.

Next 3 beads: Hail Mary, once each bead.

3rd Lead Bead: Our Father prayer. By the intercession of St. Michael and the sacred choir of the Thrones, may it please God to infuse into our hearts the spirit of true and sincere humility. Amen.

Next 3 beads: Hail Mary, once each bead.

4th Lead Bead: Our Father prayer. By the intercession of St. Michael and the heavenly choir of the Dominions, may it please God to grant us grace to have dominion over our senses and to correct our depraved passions. Amen.

Next 3 beads: Hail Mary, once each bead.

5th Lead Bead: Our Father prayer. By the intercession of St. Michael and the heavenly choir of the Powers, may God vouchsafe to keep our souls from the wiles oand temptations of the devil.

Next 3 beads: Hail Mary, once each bead.

6th Lead Bead: Our Father prayer. By the intercession of St. Michael and the admirable heavenly Virtues, may it please God to keep us from falling into temptation, and may He deliver us from evil. Amen.

Next 3 beads: Hail Mary, once each bead.

7th Lead Bead: Our Father prayer. By the intercession of St. Michael and the heavenly choir of hte Principalities, may it please God to fill our souls with the spirit of true and sincere obedience. Amen.

Next 3 beads: Hail Mary, once each bead.

8th Lead Bead: Our Father prayer. By the intercession of St. Michael and the heavenly choir of Archangels, may it please God to grant us the gift of perseverance in the Faith, and in all good works, that we may be thereby enabled to attain the glory of Paradise. Amen.

Next 3 beads: Hail Mary, once each bead.

9th Lead Bead: Our Father prayer. By the intercession of St. Michael and the heavenly choir of Angels, may God grant us their guardianship through this mortal life and, after death, a happy entrance into the everlasting glory of Heaven. Amen.

Next 3 beads: Hail Mary, once each bead.

Last four remaining beads: Our Father each bead, in honor of first, St. Michael; second, St. Gabriel; third, St. Raphael, fourth, our own guardian angel.

Concluding Prayers: O glorious prince, St. Michael, leader and commander of the heavenly hosot, guardian of the the souls of men, conqueror of the rebel angels, steward of the palace of God, our worthy leader, endowed with holiness and power, deliver us from every evil. With full confidence we have recourse to thee, that by thy gracious prtoection we may be enabled to make progress every day in the faithful service of God.

Pray for us, most blessed Michael, Prince of the Church of Jesus Christ, that we may be made worthy of His promises. Amen.

Almighty and everlasting God, Who, by a prodigy of goodness and a merciful desire for the salvation of all men, has appointed the most glorious archangel, St. Michael, as prince of Thy Church, make us worthy, we beseech Thee, to be delivered by his powerful protection from all our enemies, that none of them may harass us at the hour of death, but that we may be conducted by St. Michael into the august presence of Thy divine Majesty. This we beg through the merits of Jesus Christ, Our Lord. Amen.

St. Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou, O prince of the heavenly host, by the divine powers of God, cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who wander throughout the world, seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.
