Here, Too, There Be Dragons...
"Dragonwings and Catwings" by Dee Dreslough
This lovely artwork was created for me by Dee Dreslough, an
incredibly talented artist, for a dragon-themed Letter From Tripod: In the Company of Dragons, back when
I was one of the beautiful people in the Big T's membership department. Dee's
online gallery has moved to its own domain - if you like what you see here, be sure to check out her online gallery at http://www.dreslough.com!
For those who'd like to know... I requested this piece because I've been addicted to the Pern novels
of Anne McCaffery since I found a recording (on a record disk - waaaay
before CDs became popular, or books on tape) of the author reading from
"The White Dragon." I longed to have a dragon - or a fire lizard (that's
the small one!) for years. The cat is also lit-based... Ursula K. LeGuin,
best known for her young adult and adult fantasy and sci-fi novels, wrote
three lovely picture books about a family of winged cats... and yes, I'd
recommend any adult look into the "Catwings" series! They're a treat!
(Fellow Pern lovers will also want to know if the dragon has a name... yes!
Her name is Varianth... the blue fire lizard is Tad, and the cat is Loki. And yes, the person in the picture IS me.)
