P.S. - 9/6/03 - I should also mention two other voices I like: k.d. lang and Joan Baez. k.d. has a site at www.kdlang.com/. Joan doesn't seem to have an official site, but she has several fan sites like www.geocities.com/queen_blues/joanbaez/. Good voices, but they tend to sing songs no one wants to hear.
9/7/03 - I should also mention Charlotte Church with a good voice but a poor site at www.charlottechurch.com/; there must be better fan sites.

Sarah Brightman

Music Review - Sarah Brightman's new "Harem" CD mixes Near-Eastern themes with a Puccini tune, a couple of standards, rich orchestrations, strong melodies, and Sarah's beautiful voice. "Harem" may be welcomed by Sarah's fans, like me, but it may not be strong enough to attract many new listeners. Like, my favorite may still be her heavy-duty, almost-over-the-top "Classics" CD. "Harem" is Angel 7243 5 37180 2 2. Try www.sarah-brightman.com/ and www.angelrecords.com/. P.S. - A sticker on my CD refers to "16 new recordings," but I only found 14 tracks. Forgot to mention, this CD has electronic music and strong beats I haven't heard on her other CDs. Posted about 6/16/03.

8/29/03 - BPS at www.pbs.org/ has several links to Sarah; even a fan site, etc. One old picture is displayed at www.pbs.org/wnet/gperf/shows/alwrequiem.html; it doesn't even look like her. For a long search list see www.pbs.org/search/search_results.html?q=Sarah+Brightman&btnG=Search.

7/30/03 - The 7/27/03 Parade magazine (which comes in a the L.A. Times??) had their 'In Step With' column on Sarah Brightman. Site at www.parade.com/ and click on 'In Step With,' but not much of the column is on the site.

Warning - Sarah's "The Songs That Got Away" CD is a collection of the very worst show tunes ever. What the heck were they thinking? Even Sarah's voice can't save this mess. Never buy or even listen to this CD.

Links

One of the better fan sites seems to be www.sarahbrightman.co.uk/. They also list singles, video, and others and include a message board.

Another fan site is www.xs4all.nl/~josvg/cits/sarahbr.html. This seems less 'complete,' but it's full of small details, European versions, etc. Also, it does list two DVDs which aired on PBS: Eden and La Luna.
