3 to 4 old flat road kills, ground hog and racoons
make the best, opossum will do in a pinch.
5 New taters
2 Carrots
2 Beets
3 to 4 Fresh green beans
1 whole stalk of celery
3 or 4 large onions
12 ripe tamaters
4 or 5 mangos(green peppers for you city folk)
1 Cup of lard |

In a very large cast iron kettle, melt the lard,
cut of the onion, celery and mangos, and cook'em till you can see through the onion.
Take your axe and chop up the meat and add to the pot.
Cook until the meat is soft.
Cut up the remaining stuff and throw it in with
a gallon of water and cook on low heat for about 10 hours.
Makes about 6 servings for hungry folk. |
