East Fife's first ever match against East Stirlingshire was an Eastern League (Wartime League) encounter at Bayview on 25 September 1915, when the Fifers emerged convincing winners by six goals to one. It was to take 'shire another eleven meetings (and almost ten years) before they recorded their first victory over the Fifers: a 5-2 Second Division win at Firs Park on 28 February 1925. There have been no matches of any great significance between the sides over the years, but there have been quite a few high scoring encounters. On 27 August 1938 East Fife overcame 'shire 7-5 in an exciting Division Two encounter in front of 3,000 at Bayview and on 10 December 1960 the Fifers recorded their biggest ever win over the Falkirk side with an 8-1 victory.
