Keegan Drake Responds to Our Article I would like to first thank you for your story which shed positive light onto my campaign. You have proved the phrase, "There's no such thing as bad press," most true. Why, thank you Mr. Drake. Though for all its silver linings, your article does have a few gray clouds-- misprints and misinformation. First, you could have been more accurate by saying I had taken time off from Cyberian politics rather than simply saying I had taken time off. By saying I took time off during the summer misleads by giving the impression I was sunning on the beach or skiing on some glamorous slope. I was, in fact, working with the newly founded St. Jude Catholic Charities of Cyberia. This was hardly a stroll in the park. We agree, and we apologize for the oversight. We commend you on your charity work for the Catholic Churches in Cyberia. Second, I never said my legislative agenda would include issues such as abortion or gun control. Though I mentioned them in a statement to the press, what I said was that while those issues make for fun discussion, there are several other issues that warrant the Chamber's greater attention. A misinterpretation on our part. Next, I reject the notion that every time I have changed parties my ideology also changes to that party's opposite (i.e. liberal Conservative). As Labor's leader early in my career, I fought for some of the most liberal planks on the platform. And because I led an "undistinguished career" in the Chamber as a Conservative, no facts exist supporting your claim. We merely pointed out that you claimed an ideology different from the party you were currently in, right before you switched. For example, when you returned, you said conservatism wasn't your cup of tea and that you would return as a Liberal. Then you said you were a conservative by ideology, so you switched to Conservative. Lastly, I would like to assure the magazine and its readers that I have, "[sat] down and [reconsidered my] ideology." This was the entire reason for my change from the Liberal to Conservative. And if I am elected, I assure that I will fight not necessarily for my party's perspective, but rather for our country's best interest. That is good to hear. We look forward to reporting your work in the Chamber during the next session. |
