Refrigerator Pickles

3 cups cider vinegar
1 cup white vinegar
2 cups water
3 cups sugar
35-40 whole cloves
15-20 bay leaves
2 tsp course black pepper or peppercorns
3-4 tsp celery seed
2 tsp dry minced garlic
1 1/2 tsp dry ground mustard
1 1/2 tsp ground ginger
3 tbsp salt
7 cucumbers (approx. 10 inches long)
2 large onions

1.  Wash and slice cucumbers with skin on.
2.  Thinly slice onions.
3.  Boil the first 10 ingredients for 5-10 minutes.
4.  Layer cucumbers and onions in large bowl.
5.  Pour boiled ingredients over them to cover.
6.  Put lid on bowl and refrigerate for 24 hrs before serving.
