Seminole & Creek Heritage
William Kinkehee engaged in favorite pastime. Fishing!!
My name is Dianne Hamilton and these pages are for my ,very much loved, step-father, Bill Baker. My mother, Lee, and Bill were married in 1963 on the eve of the assassination of President John Kennedy.
Bill served in the United States Air Force from 1951 thru 1959. Two of those years were spent in France. After leaving the military, Bill started work as an air traffic controller at Love Field in Dallas, Texas. After the completion of DFW Airport, he transferred to that facility until his retirement in 1983. He had completed over 33 years of service.
Bill is an avid sports fan. Of course his favorite teams are the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Rangers, but he watches everything else too. During the football season, at gametime, you'll always find him in front of a television, usually with a radio headset on, that way he doesn't miss any of the commentations!
He is a formitable opponent at the card table. He loves poker and pinocle and most other card and board games as well. He also likes to "change the rules" of the game. He says it makes the game more interesting....and sometimes it does! We affectionately call him " Coach " because he's always trying to tell us how to play our hands!
Fishing is another of his favorite hobbies. He likes hunting the elusive sand bass and can nearly always put you on the fish. Crappie fishing is also close to his heart. Ummm....maybe it's really closer to his stomach because he sure likes to eat them!
Early every spring, you'll find Bill in his garden . He always has an organic garden each year. We all love the fresh tomatoes, beans, squash and other vegetables he grows each summer. Of course living in Texas, we're subject to droughts during our summer months. With a little encouragement from the family we'll talk him into doing a "rain dance." He's a great sport and sometimes it even rains!
