On December 18, 1978 god gave us a goddess, Katie Holmes. Born in Toledo,
Ohio, on that special day. She was the youngest child in her family. Here
father is a lawyer and mother a homemaker.
Katie Attended an all girls high school. At the Notre Dame Academy she
started her young acting life. She always said "I want to be an actress, but
I'm from Ohio. I told my self. Get a grip" However she did not know that her
dream would come true.
The summer following her 17th birthday would bring her "The
big" break. A local Toledo modeling agency led her to a 1996 New York
modeling convention. During the convention, she was asked to spend six weeks
in Las Angeles, by a LA based talent scout. Her father did not want his
daughter to go, But after her family pleading he gave in. So with her mother
she went of to LA.
Unlike most "New Actors' Katie got a job on the first movie audition. She
got her first job in Ang Lee's "The Ice Storm". In the coming of age movie,
"The Ice Storm", that takes place in the 1970's during the sexual
revolution, Katie played the role of Tobey Maguire's wealthy up town
girlfriend. Midway through the first day on the set Katie was asked to come
into Lee's trailer. Of course Katie thought the worst, but it was just a
harmless discussion for her role. "The Ice Storm" won the "Cannes Film
Festival."
When filming wrapped up, Katie returned to Ohio to finish high school.
Her acting went on at school, the next summer she played Lola in Damn
Yankees. Katie Holmes then found out that the WB and Kevin Williamson where
going to make a new TV series. Katie thought "maybe," so she sent in a home
video. Williamson viewed the tape and called Katie. However Katie informed
him that she could not make it, because she was busy with the local
theater's production of Damn Yankees. She asked if she could come out when
she was done. The great news for Katie was he agreed.
