The testimony of Frits Res. [Netherlands]

When I was 17 years old I invited three friends over from Primaryschool for a nice evening at my parent`s house. I was very lonely and I longed to have friends. So these friends said: ”You are always welcome to join us in the community-house Joeb and in the pub in Egmond-Binnen. I went there to take a look. There was a bar and a little hall with a stage where bands could give a concert or have a dj-show. Gradually I went there more often

In the weekends I drunk quite a few beers. The music realy interested me. I visited concerts in Holland like the Rolling Stones. this group sang a song with the title: Sympathy for the devil. I also went to the Police and Queen.

Another hobby was running 3 or 4 times a week .

But in spite of all these activities I got more and more depressed.

I had visited a fortuneteller who used New Age music. She told what would happen in the future and I was very much confused .

My father died in 1987 from lungcancer after a sickbed of about a half a year. And before he died he had said: ”Take good care of Frits!” It was a very difficult time so I also lost my job at a bank.

I was able to continue only with very light work in the archives of the ABN bank.

Witness:

In september 1987 after calling out to God for about five months, I saw a shining light stature.

When He started to speak I knew certain it was God: He spoke to me about His people the Jews and the 40 years in the desert. How they had to be punished for their disobidience and rebellion. The Lord said that He had to do this because of the greatness of their sins and of His holy Name.

In october I phoned my aunt a born again-believer, a christian. She had already made a radical choice for Jesus, so I asked her what to do and where to go for some help. She said to go to the Samaritans Inn in Amsterdam. It belongs to Youth with a Mission of Floyd Mc Clung. It is very near to Central Station at the Prins Hendrikkade. The man I spoke to; Mike used the name of Jesus instead of God. That was new to me. Mike prayed with me to ask Jesus in my life where I gave permision for. I did wanted to give Him the highest place in my life and heart.

I wondered what would happen. I joined a pentacostal church in Alkmaar, but it was very strange to me in the beginning. It was quit different from the tradional churches. But after a few weeks I decided to respond to an invitation to be baptised in the Holy Spirit just as written in Acts 2.

I wanted to be a disciple for Christ to witness and therefore I needed His power. On the way home I felt such a deep inner peace which I had never had before. And I had joy ,which was a very great relief after years of depression and anxieties.

My life changed completely. I stopped visiting pubs and concerts and I burned all the music and all the books that had anything to do with the devil. The Holy Spirit had convinced me very clearly to do that.

So I was on fire for the God of Israel and I testified freely to all who wanted [or did not want] to hear. I read my bible every day, visited the congregation and I had prayertimes and I realy had the feeling I knew that I had come home to my Father. He had been waiting for me and had closed me in His arms.

Growth:

I was very excited about everything and wanted to get baptised in water as soon as possible. So they taught me on this subject and soon I was baptised. So I could realy left my old life behind and stepped into the new. ”For he who is in Christ Jesus is a new creation. The old is past and the new life has come.”

Gradually I learned to live a balanced life as I still needed a lot of inner healing from rejection and other mental injuries.

Christ will come back to earth again soon and its up to you if you be one of those He will take with Him to the new Jerusalem. So choose today who you want to serve.

He can do exceedingly abundantly above what we can imagine or think off.

God the Father would like to enclose you in His arms forever and give you His love and peace and take care of you.
