The myth of the waiting game

    Reasons for waiting:
  1. Deer will lie down and "stiffen up."
  2. Hunter needs pipeful of tabacco.
  3. Deer will get the "Blind Staggers." <
    Reasons for not waiting:
  1. It's Snowing.
  2. It's Raining.
  3. You're in an area of high hunter density.
  4. Darkness is approaching and you can't hunt in the morning.
  5. Tracking takes place freely in warm weather.
  6. Deer bleed freely in warm weather.
  7. Trailing wounded deer with dogs permitted in the area you hunt.
  8. A running deer has three times the heart rate of a bedded deer.
  9. Rigor mortis does not occur until three to six hours after death.
  10. Moverment creates greater and more rapid blood loss, thus inhibiting coagulation.
