The myth of the waiting game
Reasons for waiting:
- Deer will lie down and "stiffen up."
- Hunter needs pipeful of tabacco.
- Deer will get the "Blind Staggers."

Reasons for not waiting:
- It's Snowing.
- It's Raining.
- You're in an area of high hunter density.
- Darkness is approaching and you can't hunt in the morning.
- Tracking takes place freely in warm weather.
- Deer bleed freely in warm weather.
- Trailing wounded deer with dogs permitted in the area you hunt.
- A running deer has three times the heart rate of a bedded deer.
- Rigor mortis does not occur until three to six hours after death.
- Moverment creates greater and more rapid blood loss, thus inhibiting coagulation.
