Logan 3 was formed by Leigh Golden, Kent Golden, and Matt Glickman in Hamden Connecticut, a suburb of New Haven. Originally called "Fade," our group was formed in 1995 after we had played extensively together in a local cover band named "Manchester Creek."
The original sound of the band before the addition of Kent’s influence was based primarily on alternative and folk rock. Done acoustically, with Leigh on guitar and vocals, and Matt on bass and backing vocals, we played at College campuses as well as local coffee houses. With Kent’s return to the fold in 1997, Fade’s sound began to change. Pushing towards a more aggressive hard rock influence, we soon decided that we should reform ourselves with a new name to show a new direction. Logan 3 was born.
"Not everyone loves me" is Logan 3’s first EP, containing five of our original songs. Primarily written by Leigh Golden, "Not everyone loves me" is an attempt to work towards a unique and decisive sound that stands out from other bands of today, yet appeals to the current music interests of modern rock fans. It is difficult for us to classify our work as a certain type of music, so we leave that up to the listeners. Our sound varies depending on the emotions that were felt at the time of the song’s inception. The folk-like tone of "Away," the powerful feel of "Abaddon," and the mysterious sound of "The Haunting" all convey who we are and what we sound like. Leigh, who has to date written over 60 original songs, believes that the band’s unique sound contains the emotionally intense characteristic of Alternative music, while remaining textured and well developed like a lot of older music.
Currently we are in the middle of continuing an extensive schedule of live performances, having already performed at multiple colleges and clubs in New England. Reactions to our music and CD have been extremely positive and our fan base is growing rapidly.
Future plans for us include the promotion and distribution of our CD, "Not everyone loves me," as well as continuing with local exposure. Long term goals for Logan 3 include finding a suitable arrangement with a qualified record label, and recording a full length original album.
As always, our creative impulses continue to shape new, original music, and we remain optimistic about the future. The new, positive direction the band is taking is very exciting for us and we hope to embrace it with open arms.
