Okay all, that write up I did on the main Games page got a tad long, so
for the NES and SNES lists, I'm just going to list them in order. Here we go:
10. Marble Madness
9. Golgo 13
8. Contra
7. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
6. Super Mario Bros 1,2,3
5. Blaster Master
4. Metroid
3. Metal Gear
2. The Legend of Zelda AND Zelda II: The Adventure of Link
1. (what a surprise...yeah right) Final Fantasy (now also on the GBA AND the Playstation!)
And now for my Top 10 SNES Games:
10. Street Fighter II
9. Mortal Kombat 1,2,3
8. Killer Instinct
7. Ninja Gaiden trilogy
6. The Star Wars Trilogy
5. Super Mario World
4. Chrono Trigger (also available on PSX)
3. Super Metroid
2. Final Fantasy II and III
(actually FF's 4 and 6, 4 on PSX in FF Chronicles,
6 on PSX in FF Anthology)
1. The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
And now for my Top N64 Games. I don't have a full Top 10, but here goes anyway!
5. Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire
4. Perfect Dark
3. The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
2. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
1. Goldeneye
10. Fight Night Round 2: I never thought that I would even think of picking up a boxing game. This one really took me by surprise. Then of course there's the nice little extra with the GameCube version: Super Punch-Out!!!! I remembered VERY quickly how hard that Special Circuit was (except for the last fight, THAT is still a cakewalk!)
9. Mega Man Anniversary Collection: 10 old school Mega Man games. The Blue Bomber's triumphant return to the Nintendo! A great retro collection, and really easy to get back into!
8. Star Wars Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike: Be smart. Be victorious. A very solid follow-up to Rogue Leader. VERY well done game!
7. Star Wars Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader: One of the first games to come out for the GameCube. One of the better Star Wars games out there as well.
6. Star Wars: Bounty Hunter: It's an FPS where you get to run around as a bounty hunter with the last name FETT. It just doesn't get much better than that!
5. X-Men Legends 1 and 2: This one grew on me fast! An RPG-feel to it, and you can play 4 players at once! Very easy to just jump right into the action! And you can get three friends to join in for a big 4-player game!
4. Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes: Now, anyone who has been here a while KNOWS just how well I rave about the Metal Gear Solid series of games. Well, take the original MGS, slap it into the graphics/gameplay engine of MGS2, and you can just imagine how stunning this game is!
3. The Legend of Zelda Collector's Edition: The disc that got me to get a GameCube. The original NES Zeldas AND Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask (both from the N64, which I never had the chance to play til now)
2. Metroid Prime 2: Echoes: Proof that "if it ain't broke don't fix it". A very worthy follow-up to the original Metroid Prime. And multiplayer Metroid just flat out rocks!
1. Metroid Prime: Metroid an FPS? Yep, it sure is, and it's a VERY good FPS at that! I must admit, it took me a bit to get used to a Metroid FPS, but it is absoultely AWESOME!
Also another new list on here, there's only 4 games so far, but here goes anyway!
4. WiiSports: The Wii brings back an ancient tradition of a console actually coming WITH a game! And amazingly WiiSports is pretty darn good!
3. Lego Star Wars The Complete Saga: Kick some brick in I through VI!! Just like the Original Trilogy game, the Complete Saga game is that much better. The entire SW series in one game!
2. Metroid Prime 3 Corruption: Samus arrives on the Wii!! Still working on this game, and it has been amazing thus far!
1. The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess: Talk about one heckuva launch title! This was definitely the Zelda game we have been waiting for!!
Here's a list I put on just because! Have fun....
Honorable Mention: Pokemon Trading Card Game: Yes it IS that good. If you've seen the actual TCG and either want to learn how to play, or want to play and don't wanna fork out the $$$, this is the game for you.
10. Super Mario Land: One of the first games to hit the Game Boy, this game STILL does not get old. It plays like the original SMB. Need I say more?
9. Shadowgate: COMPLETELY faithful port of the original. It is awesome to play the original Shadowgate on a really tiny screen!
8. Metroid II: See #6. This game is TOUGH. Tough, but a lot of fun
7. Blaster Master: Enemy Below: The play control is almost COMPLETELY identical to the NES Blaster Master. The looks of the levels are identical to the levels of the original, even the music is the same as the original. The big difference is the level layout and the enemies you face. A very welcome throwback to the days of the original BM!
6. Zelda: Link's Awakening, DX, Oracle of Seasons/Ages: It's Zelda. Nuff said
5. Metal Gear Solid: Wow. MGS just plain rocks on all systems. Although, given a choice between the PC, PSX, and GB versions, this one would come in third. It's still very VERY good, though.
4. The Final Fantasy Series: Yeah, they've been played on other systems, but they still hold their own on the GBA. Still classics today!
3. Metroid Fusion: Once again, Metroid games hold true to being an awesome game series. It's felt like playing Super Metroid on a VEEERY small screen! Plus, if you own a GameCube (and Metroid Prime) and have beaten Metroid Fusion, you can play the original NES Metroid on the GameCube! How awesome is that?
2. Metroid Zero Mission: Takes the story of the original Metroid, gives it killer graphics, does some map changing, and expands the game beyond the final battle with Mother Brain! It's everything that Fusion was, and makes it many times better! And, beating the game unlocks a treat: the original Metroid! No Gamecube required!
1. The Pokemon Series. Red. Blue. Yellow. Gold. Silver. Crystal. Fire Red. Leaf Green. Ruby. Sapphire. Emerald. All games that I not only own but all thoroughly enjoy! The format and gameplay that started all the way back with Red and Blue is still fun and addictive today!
THE TOP TEN NINTENDO DS LIST:
NOW that my DS collection is past ten, here comes another full Top 10 list!
10. SimCity: Plays quite well on the DS. Not too crazy about all the side games and whatnot that comes along with it. I'd rather have a SimCity game that you pop it in, and start building a city. Still not a bad game though.
9. Marvel Trading Card Game: The Marvel VS Game goes electronic. A pretty decent way of really learning the Marvel VS TCG when you don't have someone else there with a deck of cards!
8. Super Mario 64 DS: A nice remake of the N64 classic. Uses the touch screen really well.
7. MechAssault-Phantom War: The MechAssault series hit the DS, and did a pretty darn good job. Actually, it is because of the special boxed set for the WizKids Mechwarrior minatures game that I found Phantom War.
6. Metroid Prime Hunters: Really captures the feel of the Metroid Prime series. And the multiplayer is something else!
5. Castlevania-Dawn of Sorrow and Portait of Ruin: The Castlevania franchise got a real good shot in the arm with DoS and its recent game Portrait of Ruin. Definitely worth a look!
4. FIFA Soccer 06: Still feels very much like a handheld game, but still a lot of fun. You can use the touch screen to make strategy changes mid-game. A very solid soccer game!
3. Pokemon Diamond and Pearl (I lumped both games into one slot): It's Pokemon. It's the DS. The graphics are a touch better, but all the gameplay from the Game Boy series makes it's DS debut!
2. Trauma Center-Under the Knife: Who thought playing doctor would be THIS much fun? A very puzzle-based type of game. This one will keep you on the edge of your seat!
1. Final Fantasy III: Come on, like ANY other game would ever be on top of the DS list! FF III FINALLY made it over here to the States!
