Robert Fletcher

Robert Fletcher Born 1829 - Died October 1901 of pneumonia at or near Weiss, said to be burried in Kinchen Graveyard, Oldfield). Married (1st) Mahala Elizabeth Glover (daughter of John and Emily Glover): b. May 12, 1837 - D. November 8, 1929. Robert served as a Private in Company D, 3rd (Wingfield's) Louisiana Calvary, which was formerly known as the 9th Battallion, Louisiana Partisan Rangers, Confederate States Army. He enlisted May 24, 186x at St Helena Parish; was captured July 9, 1863 at Port Hudson; and was parolled July 12 or 13, 1863 also at Port Hudson. He and Mahala were married by Robert Hodges, Justice of the Pease, St Helena Parish, near Greensburg. At the age of 85, Mahala appeared before Vivian E. Sattoon, Deputy Clerk of the District Court of Livingston Parish to apply for pension, declaring she was the widow of Robert Fletcher. She received $30 on December 1, 1929, about a month after her death. Mahala is buried in the Glover Cemetery. Robert married (2d) July 11, 1871 Mariah H. Allen (daughter of D.R. and Salina Allen), b: about 1833 - d. June 30, 1901, buried in Sandy Hill Cemetery.
