OASIS TO ANNOUNCE NEW MEMBERS

What's the story? According to reports in NME, Oasis plan to announce in a few weeks who will replace departed members Paul "Guigsy" McGuigan and Paul "Bonehead" Arthurs, who played bass and guitar, respectively. Since the departure of the two founding members, Oasis has consisted of Liam and Noel Gallagher, and Alan White.

NME also reports that Oasis are planning to begin a world tour in March to promote their forthcoming album, which is tentatively titled Where Did It All Go Wrong? Apparently, the band have just finished mastering the album in New York and have plans to release a single early next year

IT'S A BOY!

Patsy Kensit and Liam Gallagher are celebrating this morning after the birth of their baby son - six weeks ahead of schedule.

Patsy was taken to London's Portland hospital last night after reportedly feeling unwell. Doctors decided to deliver the baby immediately by caesarian section. The boy - named Lennon after the murdered Beatle - weighed in at a light 6lb, but doctors confirmed they were unconcerned at the early delivery and that baby Lennon was breathing well and unaided. Lennon has a seven year old brother, James, by Patsy's second husband, Simple Minds star Jim Kerr.

The early delivery had Liam beaming outside the central London hospital last night and at last gave the Oasis star something to smile about following the departures of Bonehead and Guiggsy from the Oasis ranks. A pal said "Liam's absolutely delighted. Patsy's very tired, but they are both happy and relieved that everything went well."

Brother Noel and wife Meg Matthews are expecting their first baby in February.

OASIS TO TOUR IN MARCH

Following the departure of Guigsy, Oasis are not to split. Liam and Noel have just announced that they will be touring the UK in March 2000.

The pair were the only members of Oasis at the conference, they were in good spirits, joking with the crowd of assembled journalists and reported that the split was amicable.

They said that Guigsy has left because - like Bonehead - he has a family to look after and touring would take him away from home for too long.

There are no plans for a replacement at present and they said that they had nobody in mind.

They added they that called the conference in order to reassure fans about the future of Oasis

BONEHEAD QUITS OASIS

Guitarist Paul "Bonehead" Arthurs has decided to quit Oasis after being in the band for 8 years. In a press statement, Bonehead said:

After a lot of consideration I have decided to call it a day with Oasis. I've had a fantastic 8 years in one of the best bands ever to come out of Britain, and now feel I have come to the stage where I'd like to concentrate on other things in my life, outside of the demands of being in a successful rock and roll band.

I've made some great friend along the way and wish everyone in the band every success with the next album, and intend to enjoy watching the band go on to further success in the coming years. I would like to thank the band and everyone around it, especially the fans, for making it so special.

See you at the next show!

Paul Arthurs

OH YES SHE IS!

ACTRESS Patsy Kensit's pregnancy turned into high farce yesterday as heavy denials were issued over her impending motherhood.
It was another chaotic day for Patsy, 30, and hellraiser husband Liam Gallagher, Britain's premier glamour couple.
First, Oasis frontman Liam, 26, was awoken to issue a firm, but thankfully expletive-free, rejection of yesterday's story in The Mirror. Speaking through the intercom at the couple's 1million home, he said: "It's absolute nonsense, mate. I don't know where it's come from."
Minutes later other members of the world's media turned up to congratulate the dad-to-be. When asked if he was going to be a father, he replied, bluntly: "No!" - twice.
He then demanded reporters stop ringing the doorbell at their home in Primrose Hill, north London, and slammed down the intercom receiver.
But a friend told The Mirror: "She is pregnant but Liam's number one priority is Patsy and he doesn't want a whole load of fuss.
"It's still very early days in the pregnancy so they're keeping their fingers crossed that nothing goes wrong. "Patsy's been through the wars healthwise in the past year so they're taking it one day at a time. "They're not pleased the news has leaked out so early but they hope to be given some space." The baby is due in October
At 11.45am the couple emerged - Liam with his trademark scowl, Patsy all smiles in blue-tinted sunglasses and a mini woollen black dress with a Guinness beer motif.
Patsy, who has a six-year- old son James by her second husband Jim Kerr, flashed a grin at photographers before they clambered into a taxi. When asked: "Patsy is it true you are pregnant?" she replied 'No it is not'.
The couple went off to Harrods on a two-hour spending spree and on their return remained tight-lipped. Patsy is delighted there will be a playmate for James. Liam is determined to put his wild ways behind him and is working on a new Oasis album.
The pal added: "With a new record on the go and Patsy pregnant, Liam is going into dead serious mode." The couple have had a stormy relationship since marrying in April 1997. Patsy briefly moved out last year after a highly publicised row.

PATSY: I'M PREGNANT

ACTRESS Patsy Kensit and rocker husband Liam Gallagher are expecting their first baby.
Last night friends said the couple were "delighted" with the news, which should finally quash rumours that their marriage is on the rocks. A close pal revealed: "The baby was planned and both parents are over the moon."
Beautiful Patsy, 30, who already has a six-year-old son James by her second husband Jim Kerr, has always wanted a child with her Oasis star partner. The baby is due in October.
The pal added: "Despite his bad boy image, Liam is actually great with kids. You only have to see him with James to realise he is a natural. "They are both really excited and have been out buying pregnancy books and reading them together.
"Patsy is in no doubt that having a baby will have even more of a calming influence on her husband."
The couple had told only special friends and family - including 26-year-old Liam's big brother Noel, 31 - that Patsy was pregnant.
Liam and Patsy got together three years ago and wed in April 1997. The relationship has always been stormy.
They split last September over Liam's hell-raising nights-out and boozing. Patsy and James moved out of Liam's £1million house in Primrose Hill, north west London, after a blazing row.
Four months later they patched things up and Patsy moved back in. Liam convinced her he had curbed his wildman behaviour. Only last week, Patsy looked radiant with health as she and Liam enjoyed a night-out at the Carlton London Restaurant Awards.
Three times-married Patsy, who has just finished shooting the screen life story of George Best in which she plays his wife Angie, has had a rocky year health-wise.
She had a lump removed from her breast in November and was given the all-clear. She later contracted food poisoning from oysters she ate on a romantic break to Venice with Liam.
Last night friends said Liam would never be a pipe-and-slippers man but he would take fatherhood very "seriously".

£300,000 - SOME MIGHT SAY THAT's NOT A LOT FOR SACKED OASIS STAR WHO WANTED £10m

Sacked Oasis star Tony McCarroll is to get just £300,000 after striking a last minute deal with the Gallagher brothers yesterday.
Drummer Tony, 27, wanted £10m - a fifth of all the band's earnings since he was dumped in 1995. But he backed down before yesterday's High Court date and settled for £500,000. And his huge legal bills from the four year battle will total around £200,000.
The deal means Liam and Noel Gallagher - whose combined fortune is estimated at £20m - avoided having appear in court. Noel, 31, said yesterday " I have just been told that Tony has given up. I'm chuffed."
Brother Liam, 25, did not even get out of bed to hear the news. The housekeeper at his North London home said "he's fast asleep."
Oasis are expected today to formally approve Tony's lump sum for his work on their debut album Definitely Maybe and No1 single Some Might Say. Tony - who argued that he was unlawfully expelled from thepartnership - was claimimg victory last night.
He said "I'm so glad it's finished. I just want to get on with my life, but I'll be celebrating the victory. I'm delighted the lawyers hammered out a deal, but I can't go into the terms of settlement cos it's confidential."

NOEL's FEAR 2000 Computer scares delay album

Noel Gallagher has abandoned his bid to top the first chart of the 21st century - because he's scared of the millenium bug.
The Oasis star wanted the first No 1 album and single of 2000. But he's convinced computers will go haywire trying to handle the 00 date and thousands of sales won't be recorded for the first millenium chart on January 2. Now the band are delaying the release of the long-awaited studio follow-up to Be Here Now until later on next year. Noel said Oasis would probably put out a single from the next album next September. He says "It would be great to see in the 21st century with a No 1 album and single - what a statement". "But it ain't gonna happen. If computer systems do crash, record shops will be thrown into chaos."
"A chart may not even come out and we don't wanna be a part of that." Noel has been working on demos for the new album at a studio owned by Alvin Lee, the legendary Ten Years After guitarist. Noel says "I've only got two more tracks to finish off. Then we'll all pop into a studio in a month or two. It's good sounding and has a hard edge. I can't wait for everyone to hear it. But I'm not sure when it'll come out." "It won't be around the millenium, that's for sure."

h2> SON NOEL's PARTYING GESTURE

Noel Gallgher presented mum Peggy with a traditional Irish "claddagh" ring after throwing her a suprise 52nd birthday party. Noel - tanned after a holiday in Thailand with Meg Mathews - chatted to his mum all evening. Peggy looked overcome with emotion after he gave her the gold ring. Guests include All Saints beauties Nicole Appleton and Melanie Blatt, Jungle star Goldie and raunchy Republica singer Saffron.
They toasted Peggy with champagne boosting the bill for the bash - held on Saturday at the trendy Titanic bar - to more than £3,000.
Noel's brother Liam and his wife Patsy Kensit weren't at the party. They are thought to be on holiday in the US.

Arrested - Oasis Liam in pub fight after binge

Oasis singer Liam Gallagher was arrested last night after 24 hours of hell-raising ended in a pub fracas. Photographer Mel Bouzad said Liam, 26, punched him in the stomach then watched as his camera was smashed. "Liam was just like a wildman," said Bouzad.
He was arrested at the bar of the Prembroke Castle, in Primrose Hill, north London, "tanked up" on Pils lager. Liam - who had told actress Patsy Kensit he would cut down his drinking - was led away in handcuffs. After an all night party, he had continued boozing and was earlier stopped by police outside his £1.5 million home. He was later released on police bail.

Drugs are too boring for me, I've kicked it on the head - Noel gives up wild ways

Oasis bad boy Noel Gallagher last night revealed he has given up drugs because he finds them 'too boring'.
The 31-year old star - who once sparked a storm by saying drug abuse is so prevalent it is just like having a cup of tea - admitted: "I've calmed down now. I've kicked it on the head. It got too much. But last year and the year before it was mental. It's too broing for me now."
The admission comes after The Mirror revealed last week that Noel's singer brother Liam has pledged to cut down on his boozing in a bid to woo back his wife Patsy Kensit.
Noel often admitted he used drugs, including cocaine. He revealed it was drugs which inspired him to out up the sign Supernova Heights - from an Oasis song about drugs, Champagne Supernova - on his north London home.
He also added that he once had to be talked out of sticking a blue plague on the house. The songwriter said "Naming your house is out of being into drugs. We were going to have a flag on the top of it and we were going to have it at half-mast when we weren't there. Our manager would go: 'Calm down, you don't know what you're letting yourself in for.' I was going to get a plague put up as well saying NOEL GALLAGHER LIVES HERE NOW."
But, referring to Oasis' legendary booze binges, he joked the plague should 'probably go up on the off-license round the corner instead'. Noel even claimed Liam 'puts lager before music, bless him.'

Liam home alone

Liam Gallagher returns home yesterday glum, unshaven and carrying an overnight bag after staying with estranged wife Patsy Kensit.
It is the first time the Oasis singer has stayed at Patsy's new flat since their split last month. She moved out of their North London mansion with six-year old son James and into a rented flat in Bayswater after rows over Liam's drinking. Now the pair appear to be attempting a reconciliation although Liam, wearing a brand new coat, would not say yesterday whether Patsy would be moving back.

LIAM: I'm missing Patsy He pours out heart to Bizzarre in pub

Lonely Liam Gallagher has spoken out for the first time about his split from wife Patsy Kensit and admitted: "I'm really missing her."
The Oasis star poured his heart out to the Sun man Sean Hoare as he sat drinking in his local pub, The Queens, near his home in North London. Sean, who also lives nearby, asked Liam about the bust-up after spotting him sitting dejected in a corner. Chain-smoking Liam confessed: "It's a sad situation. I really love her and really miss her. It's been a difficult time and I'm just taking each day as it comes. It's weird not having her or little James around."
As he spoke about Patsy, his eyes dropped to the floor. He clearly found the conversation very emotional. It is the first time Liam has admitted the couple has split. When she first moved out four weeks ago, after a string of drink-related bust-ups, he claimed: "Me and Patsy are sound. We're still together."
But he has not seen or spoken to her since their row. They have never lived apart for so long and friends fear the split could be permanent. Patsy is now renting an apartment in central London with her son, James, six. Liam's mum, Peggy has moved into the couple's £1.25 million home in Primrose Hill. In happier times, Liam and Patsy were often spotted together in The Queens. The pun is one of his favourite haunts and is used by musicians and media types.
One onlooker said: "He looked very sad and lost.He spent a lot of time just staring into his drink and being thoughtful. He clearly has a lot of things to sort out."

Alan McGee in Hospital

ALAN McGEE, head of Oasis' label Creation Records, was rushed to hospital on Friday (July 10) suffering from two perforated stomach ulcers. McGee was operated on at The London Clinic after falling ill at home. He lost a pint of blood but is expected to make a full recovery. A Creation Records spokesman told NME: "He was feeling ill with 'flu-like symptoms a few days before. Then he began to feel really dreadful and started passing blood. He was rushed to hospital and they put an endoscope (camera) down his throat and found two stomach ulcers. They zapped them with lasers and he had to stay in overnight." McGee, who is also a member of British Prime Minister Tony Blair's Music Industry Forum advisory committee, was back at work this week to launch his bid for a new Scottish radio station, The Hub.

Oasis star settles case out of court

Rock star Liam Gallagher has settled out of court with the fan he alledgedly headbutted, The Sun newspaper reported yesterday.
The Sun said the deal ws believed to be worth around sixty thousand pounds. Peter Gellatly, who has been representing 21- year old Ben Jones, was quoted as saying: "Ben is satisfied with the outcome and believes that the settlement is fair." Last month, Jones dropped assault charges against the Oasis lead singer.
But Gallagherr still faced a civil action for his alleged assault on the British backpacker after the fan took photographs outside the band's hotel in Brisbane four months ago. Cathay Pacific Airways in March banned Gallagher and his band because of their behaviour. -Reuters 16.07.98

Noel Gallagher Records Song For "X-Files", Liam Art To Appear On CD

Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher has gone into a studio to work on material slated for the upcoming "X-Files" movie soundtrack.
According to MTV Europe, Gallagher started working on material after the band completed its Be Here Now world tour last week in Mexico City. The ensuing sessions have caused Gallagher to pull out of the Burt Bacharach tribute concert on April 8, as we previously reported.
Meanwhile, an abstract portrait of brother Liam turns up on a special limited-edition CD single for "All Around the World" designed by a 17-year-old Howell, New Jersey, girl. The portrait by Lisa Gadaleta won a disc art cover contest sponsored by React magazine and Epic Records -- and was selected from over 700 entries by the Gallaghers themselves.
The CD single with Gadaleta's art will be released by Epic via a 1-800 number in April, and part of the proceeds from the disc's sales will be donated to VH1's "Save the Music" program, which helps aid music education in public schools.

Airline Bans "Abusive" Liam

Oasis singer Liam Gallagher has been banned from flying on Cathay Pacific jets after abusing passengers and crew on a flight to Australia last month. The airline said it made the decision after reviewing television interviews with the star after his alleged loutish behaviour on the February 25 trip. Travellers aboard the flight from Hong Kong to Perth complained band members smoked, swore and threw objects at staff and other passengers. The fracas was thought to have ended with the captain confronting the troubled 25-year-old singer and threatening to handcuff him. The Hong Kong-based airline, in a letter to the local South China Morning Post newspaper today, revealed that a ban was now in force. "Cathay Pacific has taken the decision to refuse any further carriage to Liam Gallagher and people known to have been causing a nuisance on the flight in question," said Cathay Pacific spokesman Chuck Fai Kwan. The letter, written in response to concerns about drunkenness on aircraft, added that the decision was taken to protect other passengers. "Passenger safety is most definitely a priority at Cathay Pacific. We go to great lengths to ensure our operations are safe and never hesitate to take any necessary course of action when safety is in question." During the flight, the captain threatened to divert the plane and kick off the band and their 30-member entourage after they abused crew and other passengers, lit cigarettes and behaved offensively. The pilot also threatened to have the group met by police at Perth airport. Australian aircraft cabin crew have since refused to fly with the band unless they guarantee they will behave. The flight launched what became an ill-fated Australian tour, as four days later Oasis songwriter Noel Gallagher launched a savage attack on the public outpouring of grief following the death of Diana, Princess of Wales. Days later his younger brother, Liam prompted further criticism with allegations that he harassed a young Sydney woman. The lowest point of the tour for the bad boys of rock then followed when the singer was accused of headbutting fan Ben Jones. The incident allegedly happened as the victim took photos outside the band's Brisbane hotel on March 5. Gallagher is due to appear back in court on June 9

Oasis Heli Scare

Oasis filmed a scene for their new viodeo, unaware an engine had failed on a helicopter hovering above them. The pilot swung away and made an emergency landing during shooting in Est London of the Apocalypse Now-style promo for next single D'You Know What I Mean? Liam and Noel Gallagher were told about the breakdown later. An insider said: "The lads were stunned. The pilot averted a dangerous situation." Excerpt from The Sun 25 June 1997
