Nordic Championship race 2000 Finland
It was Masku´s track in Turku, Finland which held this year´s Nordic/Finnish Championship race. The track was nice with a couple of jumps(table, triple and a couple small ones). Friday was practice day and the track had lots of grip. Saturday was 2wd race and the track didn´t have the same grip and the triple jump was harder to clear. Qualifying went to Jukka Steenari, Teppo Kauppinen was second and Teemu Leino third. In the finals it was Jukka who took the first win while others did have a hard time at a couple of the first corners. In the second final it was again Jukka who took the lead. After another set of troubles in the first corners it was Teppo who fought his way from 10th to 2nd but never got the chance to pass Jukka before time ran out. So Jukka took overal win with 2 final wins under his belt. The thirdf inal was just a battle for the remaining places and Teppo got a clear win. After the finals the top three was Jukka,Teppo and Jouko Termonen.
On Sunday it was time for the 4wd race. The weather was
not as warm but still nice. The qualifying race was a close battle and
Jukka took the pole with only 0.04 sec...from Teppo and Teemu was in 3rd
place. It was looking very interesting for the finals.
In the first final it was Teppo who took the lead after
two corners but flipped his car a couple of turns later. After really tough
driving, many passes and fast lap times Teppo was closing in on Jukkas
lead. After Jukka had struggled with the table jump it was obvious it was
a race for the win between the two drivers. Then Teppo made a move and
took the lead but then Jukka had some trouble with his car and slowed down
so the battle for the win was over.
In the second final Teppo took the lead right from the
first lap and Jukka had to try to close the gap. However, Jukka never
got the chance to close in on Teppo and he ended up flipping his car a
couple of times more at the end. It was Teppo Kauppinen who won and took
the overal Nordic/Finnish Championship win with two final wins. The third
final was just another battle for the remaining places. After the finals
the results were 1.Teppo 2.Jukka and 3.Teemu Leino.
More info and results might come someday..;-)

So here are results. Track was super rough at 2wd. Austrian drivers seems to have track like this at home cos they did look good at track even it was really bumby and loose. Some drives got slower heats at beginning at round cos track was getting faster and faster. Finals mixed results even more and it was must have good luck least at first corner. I did get some bad luck at race also with missing 2wd A-main at less than one tenth in two rounds...can we get closer...i guess we cant. 4wd they did get my best qualifing time off cos mixed transponders wich put me down at the starting grid. Its all about racing and we will get another change at France next year.
