Dizzy    Delilah

by Danni Neal

All over the world

Beyond the oceans and past the trees

Covered by darkness and hidden in shade

Dizzy Delilah is watching it all

Everything from houses to mice

From the clouds in the sky to the rocks at the beach

Going in circles has Delilah’s mind spinning

Her loops and flip flops are disorienting her

If she falls, she’ll start all over again

Just hope she doesn’t keep this going for too long

Kids shouldn’t spin in circles trying to beat boredom

Let them do things that don’t affect their health

Markers and crayons are what Delilah should be playing with

Not spinning until she makes herself sick

Opening her eyes, she sees everything as a blur

People are fuzzy and the grass below her isn’t there

Quite silly it seems to try what she’s doing

Regardless of how little she has to get done

Sick from twirling in endless circles

Tired from circling in mindless twirls

Under the hot sun laughing at her foolishness

Very soon Dizzy Delilah falls on the ground

Worried about how she’s feeling, teachers run to her side

Yellow and blue and pink and purple, Delilah’s world is all mixed up

Next time she’s bored, Delilah will play will dolls instead
