Martin's Mice
This is the coolest book ever written! It's by Dick King Smith,(the author of Babe.) It is all about a farm cat who catches mice. Sounds kind of boring, doesn't it? Well perhaps I should mention that instead of eating the mice, he keeps them as pets in an old bathtub! Martin has all sorts of adventures with his mice, including protecting him from his mice eating family, providing food and water for them,(ever seen a cat go swimming?) and even trying to be reunited with them after he's taken away to the city. Read this book no matter what - it will become an instant favorite!
The Cat Who Went To Heaven
This is a sweet story by Elizabeth Coatsworth. It's about a calico cat named Good Fortune who helps her poor master. Toward the end of the story, her master must choose between adding her to an important painting he has been working on, which would ruin his career as an artist, and leaving her out of the painting, which would break her heart. Be prepared for a shocking ending!
I Love Guinea Pigs
This is another book by Dick King Smith. This one is much shorter than Martin's Mice though,(it's basically a picture book.) The illustrations are cute and the few words the book has will teach you all about caring for your pet guinea pig,(although, reading this book should not be the only research you do on your pet! That's why K.C. has a Pets link!) Read this if you love cute little animals and feel like smiling.
