Beatrice, my best friend, and I were in our early teens when we had our first encounter with PURE EVIL.

Her mother had been dead for almost a year before this "event" happened.

Beatrice, who'd gotten mixed up with a very bad crowd had thrown a party over the weekend when her father was out of town. She felt neglected and was having the worst possible time in her life. She was a turbulent, troubled teen; the worse possible type to dabble in the unknown.

During the course of the evening one of her friends brought out a popular board game that spells out answers to questions asked. I had never HEARD of, or SEEN this game before. It gave me such a feeling of foreboding that I literally hid in my friend's bedroom with the door tightly shut.

EVIL seemed to permeate the air like the stench of a horrible sickness. I had no idea they had played with the board game just a month ago, this seemed to explain some things.

Things started to happened in that house, after that "game" made it's first appearance, things which couldn't be explained. There was a presence in that house that was not there before. I felt it BEFORE that weekend, but did not understand WHAT or WHY I felt it...until after my friend told me about the "game" having been played in her house over a month ago. It was only after this "game" was played that these strange and scarey things happened in that house.

Sudden gusts of whirlwinds would suddenly tear through the house. These SUMMER winds were, ICEY cold. They seemed to come from nowhere even when all the doors & windows were closed. One time the wind was so bad...it made the chandelier in the dining room sway back & forth. ALL THE DOORS & WINDOWS were tightly shut because of a cold front which had made its way into Colorado. There was NO way these sudden drafts of whirling air could have occurred by natural means.

THINGS were moved into different places...when we KNEW they were elsewhere in the house only a short time before.

Two days after her "weekend party" I went over to her house for a visit. Her dad was still away on his business trip, so it was just the two of us in this house. WE WERE COMPLETELY ALONE.

We were sitting on her bed chatting, when one of those whirlwinds STORMED through the house. This gust was so strong it knocked over some plants and figurines as it swept through, and rushed into the bedroom. Just as abruptly as it started, it stopped. Shaken, the two of us timidly walked through the house, calling out to see if anyone was there. NOBODY WAS THERE. ALL the doors & windows were closed. They'd been LOCKED! We tried all the other doors and windows in the house and they too were LOCKED. Nobody else was in that house but US!!! And we were together the entire time this all occurred.

In an attempt to allay our fears, we decided to conduct an experiment.  My friend had been telling me about objects in her house that were suddenly relocated to different parts of the house. Neither of us ever saw anything move, but the fact is objects did not stay in the same place where you left them.

We decided to try an experiment, to see if we were only imagining things. We took the liquor cabinet key and hid it in a jar on the bookcase, and left the room. Five minutes later, we re-entered the room to find the key BACK in the door of the cabinet. Shaken, but still disbelieving, we did this again...only this time we left the cabinet door OPEN; as well as hiding the key - this time in a plant.  Less than five minutes later...we walked back into the room, and the key was not only back in the cabinet door, but the cabinet was closed and LOCKED!!

We ran into her bedroom & locked the door.  We huddled in there, trying to figure out what to do ANOTHER gust of wind TORE through the house. We could hear it as the bedroom door rattled and shook, as if an entity were trying to rip it from hinges.

As we were sitting paralyzed with fear, a calm and serene aura filled the room. There standing in front of us was Beatrice's mother. She held out her arms as if to enfold us. The rattling and pounding on the door stopped. This earthbound angel was there to protect us from the terrible evil on the other side of the door.

Less than two months later, Beatrice's dad sold the house and they moved to another part of town. His only explanation was there were "too many memories that laid buried in the house". I always doubted that story. Certainly he had to HEAR, FEEL and SMELL the Evil that had taken over his once peaceful home.

Beatrice did learn not to delve and dabble into the unknown. She realizes it is often an invitation to open the DOOR to EVIL.
