Picture our crosses, row on row...
And remember us who died.
We gave the springtime of our years
That hate be satisfied,
And that the hurt world might find peace
After the bitter strife.
We gave the precious gift of youth,
The glorious gift of life.

Go stand beside the unanswering sea,
And view our unmarked graves.
Remember all the countless ones
Long lost beneath its waves,
Think not it was a little thing:
That which we sacrificed.
Someway repay us if Thou wilt,
Oh miracle-working Christ!
Grant us this reward we pray:
That enmity may cease
Between all nations, and Thy gift,
In memory of us, be peace.
