The Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) is a non-profit living history organization that recreates aspects of life between the time periods of 600 to 1600 A.D. Anyone can participate, whether they are a formal member or not. There are events nearly every single weekend somewhere in the Kingdom. There are only three requirements to attend an SCA event: (1) pay the required site fee (if any), (2) make an attempt at wearing pre-seventeenth century garb, and (3) act in a courteous and chivalrous manner as would a noble of the realm.

The Knowne World is divided into kingdoms, which are subdivided into baronies, which are further divided into shires and cantons. Our kingdom is the Kingdom of Atlantia, which encompasses Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and a little piece of Georgia. Atlantia is divided into fifteen different Baronies.

The Barony of Hidden Mountain comprises most of the coastal area of South Carolina and is made up of two Cantons. If you live east of Interstate 95, you are in the Barony of Hidden Mountain.

The two subsidiary branches of Hidden Mountain, or Cantons, hold local meetings, fighter practices, Arts & Sciences activities, and events.

The Canton of Tear-Sea's Shore covers the greater metropolitan Charleston area (Charleston, Dorchester and Berkeley counties).

The Canton of Misty Marsh by the Sea is focused on the greater Florence and Myrtle Beach areas.

Please visit the other areas of this website to learn more about Tear-Sea's Shore, and its residents. There are also some other useful SCA links. Don't hesitate to drop an e-mail for more information and to find out how you can get involved! We look forward to welcoming you to these Current Middle Ages.
