THE HEALTH OF YOUR PET

KENNETH COUGH

= TRACHEOBRONCHITIS

Bacterial and viral infection (HIGHLY CONTAGIOUS !) of the respiratory system of dogs which is common in kennels and which can lead to a severe pneumonia without treatment.

FORTUNATELY, DOGS CAN BE VACCINATED PREVENTIVELY :

Have a dog vaccinated at least one month before bringing him to kennels (a booster is needed about 3 weeks after the first vaccination).
This infectious disease can also be transmitted everywhere where dogs are placed in group situations : dog shows, dog schools, agility training...
If your dog has dry hacking cough and it seems as if he has a bone stuck inside his throat, this could be a symptom of kennel cough.

TREATMENT
is based on antibiotics and cough suppressants.
