Where Do I Get Spells?
Recently, I've been getting very insistent e-mails from folks who just
gotta have spells. I mean, their lives are just gonna end if they don't
get every spell I've ever written or performed within the next three days.

I have three words for them: I dont' think so. Okay, that's four.
Whoever said I could count?

Seriously though.  There are some people who will tell you that there
is a spell for everything, and charge you lots of money for their book of shadows.  And isn't it lovely that the television show "Charmed" has this wonderful all-powerful, all-knowing book of shadows that identifies and categorizes every spell needed from defeating a demon from the seventh
level of hell to bewitching your friendly neighborhood handyman.  Now, while bewitching the cable guy can be fun, is it really necessary? I mean, if you dashing, debonair good looks and charm aren't going to do it, what is?

Collecting spells for the purpose of intellect and joy is one thing.
It's a benign hobby, much like collecting stamps.  Very few people
who fall into this category are going to ever need to exorcise a demon
or some such nonsense.  That doesn't mean those spells or rituals
don't exist.  For heavens sake, just pick up the Roman Ritual of
Exorcism and enjoy a good laugh.  It's kind of like being a
magickal librarian.  But are you ever going to have to do an exorcism?
I'd say ... no.

If you are running all over the web trying to find spells, ask yourself why.
Is it for your enlightenment? Is it to find your power source.
Is it because you feel inadequate with the skills you already have?

If you are searching simply for enlightenment to add to your growing
book on witchy trivia, have fun, with my blessings, providing you
remember the lessons of the Rede and the Rule of Three.

If you are searching because you feel inadequate or to find your
power source.  Stop.  You need look no farther than what already
exists within.  We all have power sources to tap into.  Some of us may
find that source a bit more naturally than somebody else or in more abundance, but it IS there for every single one of us.  I often have read by various authors, "as above, so below."  In other words, what exists in the heavens, exists in the earth and what exists without, exists within.

I don't do very much magick.  Some healing for those in need of
it on occasion. Once in a great, great while, I might throw a money
spell or two.  More often, I find myself doing magick simply to bestow
blessings on friends or loved ones, or I find myself doing larger
works, world peace, the end to the AIDS crisis, treatments for
breast cancer, etc.  But mostly, I go from day to day, loving the
Gods and trying to appreciate this amazing gift I've been given ... life.

What magickal spells do I use when I do practice magick?  I very rarely
do anything more than a simple casting of a circle, raising a cone
of power, stating my intentions and releasing the energies. Simple
and to the point.  Sometimes, on special holidays or for special
occasions, I get really fancy, and write special invocations to the
elements and the Gods in rhyme.  The theatrical part of me takes
over, and I pick special herbs, special candles, oils, robes, incense,
etc.  These are wonderful, fun and special times for me.  99% of the
time, I get to share these with my coven.

And sometimes, I simply ask for something providing that it
harms none and according to the free will of all.  No candles, no
incense, no poems, no nothing.  Just me, the Goddess and my intent.

My point is this.  You don't need spells from me.  Spells come from within.  Find a good teacher who can teach you how to bring those spells out
of you, and you'll have a lifetime of exploration of magick.

Have fun and be responsible.
