Dressage Rider Corral

You are listening to "Don't Cry For Me Argentina"

I've made this page in expectations to hopefully bring dressage riders from around the world together to discuss their experiences, riding, horses and anything else. If you are interested, send me a short bio on you and your horse(or mount) and your email address. Hope you enjoy:)

Sara Langler

I'm Sara Langler, and I'm 17 years old (soon to be 18!). I've been riding for seven years at Queenswood Stables in Navan Ontario. Five of those years have been spent training and showing dressage. My first horse was an "aged" grey QH/Appy mare Angel, who introduced me to the world of dressage. In 1993 I teamed up with a 4yo chestnut Hanoverian mare named Eishouse. She's been with me ever since. Eishouse has been an incredible challenge for me. She truly does have the temperament of a chestnut mare, and is to smart for her own good. Any little mistake I make turns into mental struggle between us, she's the perfect teacher ;) We started out at Basic 1/2, and by the end of our first season were competing Basic 2/3. An injury left me out of commission for the next summer, and we entered the show rings again in 1996 at Basic 3/4, which was by far our most successful year. Besides winning the Quebec Junior Title, we were also 3rd in Ontario, Ottawa Area Basic 3/4 Champions, Ottawa Area High Score Champions, High Point Average Champions (Riders Habit Medal) in Ontario, and champion at almost every show we attended. It was rather unexpected success, but we certainly had worked hard for it. In 1997 we had a season off due to an equine injury this time. I spent the summer grooming for my coach Simone. This past winter has been spent training incredibly hard for the 1998 show season. Our plan is to compete at Young Riders, attending the four team trials for the Ontario team. My goals for this year are gain experience in the ring, score over 58%, and most of all have fun ;) After this summer I plan to compete for another year at Young Riders, before moving onto Intermediare I and Prix. St. George. I'm teaching day camp this summer as well working towards my CEF level 1 instructors. My goals for the future are to continue riding and teaching, and possibly enter the industry part time while I attend University to earn a degree which will allow me to teach in high school. langler@cyberus.ca

Emily Macgillivray

I started to ride 2 and a half years ago (June, 1995). I started off on an old sweet Quarter Horse gelding and rode western. I was in grade 4. In the fall of 1996 (I was in grade 5 then) I took and passed my Level One CEF western riding test, which consisted of walking joggng and loping on the rail (and I thought that was touch *g*). In January of 1997 I bought my current horse Miss Te Dynamo, a 5 year old AQHA mare who was shown and trained extensively in western. I continued riding her western until the summer of 1996 when I switched to dressage. Then came the great instructor search. As sweet as Miss Te was she was also very opinionated which caused for great trouble finding an instructor. Actually the way I finally found one was from my friend Allison Metza (who lived in Winnepeg but often visited Thunder Bay, her home town and my town). She recommended her old dressage instructor Tracy Macdonald who to this is my wonderful instructor. Last spring I took Miss Te to some in town shows and we did excellent in flat classes and Basic 1 tests. I have been working also on jumping, which Miss Te also luvs. We've had our ups and downs but for the most part Miss Te is a willing, happy partner. My current fav dressage rider is Isabell Werth and my fav famous horse Gigolo. I'd luv for some of you to email me at mted@mailcity.com.

Stephanie Power

Hi, my name is Stephanie Power, I'm from St.Andrews NB. I've been riding since I was eight, and love it! I finally got my wish, a horse. However I'm only leasing so Sarah is technically not mine :) Paris Serenade (aka Sarah) is a 15.2hh chestnut, Thoroughbred/French Canadian mare born June 22, 1989. Her owner used her in hunters and eventing. I'm trying to reschool her for dressage, and she ever so slowly coming along. She has a nervous and worried temperment while you're riding her but she's such a sweety on the ground. Hopefully we'll do a Basic 1 test this coming season. Last year we went to a one day horse trial and we placed first in starter level, and got first overall in the junior dressage tests (every level!) That was the highlight of last year. We may do some more eventing this year too. I plan to go to some heritage shows this summer, if anyone else is, they're welcome to email me at stephaniepower@hotmail.com .

Rebecca Goldie

My name is Rebecca (Becca) Goldie. I'm a 15 y/o female from NB Canada. I'm in grade 10 at High School. I have shoulder length brown hair and brown eyes. I ride and look after a 3/4 TB gelding named Remember Me, or "Justa". He's a palomino, and used to be a jumper, but now he's retired. I ride him a little "Dressage" (or so what we say), trails and gymkhana work. I muck out stalls and help out at Hilltop Stables in exchange for ride times and I go to horse shows as Erin's groom. My email address is goldie@nb.sympatico.ca.
