Reprisal: definition= Seizure from an enemy by way of retaliation. Retaliation.

And that is exactly what I tried to do here.

A poem I wrote while thinking about this one morning:

A DIFFERENT POINT OF VIEW

Gee Lord, You said we were more important than animals You said we were the higher life form But, Lord, I don't see them carrying guns and making missiles or chemicals of every strain and strength; Nor do I see them making bombs to wreak destruction on YOUR people and YOUR planet that you made for THEM;

No one dominating breed of species in their kingdom ever pushed the things that you made for them to enjoy to the brink of EXTINCTION...or designated reservations for native species to live on, so that they could RULE over their rightful territory, smugly.

Lord, they don't have a monetary system in their kingdom whereby some have more than they need and some have less and some have nothing at all. They don't have governmental bodies that sit idly by and watch as people tell them that the nation's children are going to bed hungry at night, with rotten teeth and aching bellies and no HOPE.

Lord, I don't see them slapping their gavels down, giving the go ahead to pour millions of dollars of that monetary system into things like studying extra-terrestrial life, or laboratory research EXPERIMENTS FROM HELL; or more dollars for more photos of a planet uninhabitable in space.

Lord, they feel the same things we do like happiness, fear, pain, love and even depression. BUT BECAUSE THEY DON'T HAVE THE GIFT OF SPEECH, to say stop doing this to me, it hurts-- That gives members of the higher life forms the right to take advantage of that weakness, swiftly.

Lord, they cannot bicker, slander, spread rumors and lies, defamate character and use their tongues to get another fired from their job, or to get divorced or solicit another to commit a crime or to buy something they really don't want.

I don't know Lord, it seems to me, the more I think about the theory that man is superior to lower forms of life because of their size and their inability to speak and defend themselves-- The more I truly think we are the inferior of the two life forms. Because we have the choice of whether or not to take advantage of that weakness, and do.

But even so, we can erase their kingdom from existence and AFTER THEY ARE GONE-- and everyone has nice, tidy, neat lawns with ornamental animal statues instead of "those pests..." no one will remember that there was a purpose for them after all-- which was to teach us how to be truly civilized; by being humble and living without destroying the planet and therefore every living thing on this earth that YOU created for US.

Here is a poem I wrote...just got outta bed one morn and wrote it down...it isn't perfect..but it perfectly sums up how I feel. I revamped it a few words.
