Election

Type: Comedy

Rating: **** (out of five stars)

Election is a clever satire involving the student council elections at George Washington Carver High School in Omaha, Nebraska. When Tracy Flick, a hard-working girl who is involved in virtually all of the school's extracurricular activities, turns out to be the only student running for class president, a teacher, Jim McAllister decides to challenge her. He convinces Paul Metzler, one of the most popular guys in the school, to run. Paul's younger sister Tammy, who is a lesbian, soon joins the race. Tammy does this because her bisexual girlfriend Lisa left her for Paul, and Tammy wants revenge. The election soon becomes very heated and takes several twists and turns before the final outcome. I really liked this movie, not only because it's very clever and funny, but also because it develops the characters pretty well through the use of voice-overs to reveal the main characters' (Jim, Tracy, Paul, and Tammy) thoughts. Be sure to check this one out.
