A four part study studying a Church in God's Will

Part One

This part of a four part series was born of trying to convey the simpleness of growing in God's Will as a member of a church. Most teching on finding God's Will centers on specifics and routing people to those.
My view is to encourage beleivers in growing deeper in the things that they already do in order that through their servanthood they will find the personal gifts and callings that the Lord has for His church.
In this light, include yourself in the church as a whole and through this study seek to find God's Will for your life as you serve him in unity with the entire Body of Christ.

The Church in God’s Will looks for new beginnings.

Lamantations 3:22-23
Isaiah 43:15-21
Titus 1:1

Each year starts with a hope of new beginings, new starts, and new resolutions. This study was taught in Jan. resting on the theme of the new year. No matter what time of year that you read this, think back to the new year and remember what you desired to put behind, and what you desired to seek fresh in the upcoming year.

1. Why do we look to a New Year for new beginnings?
2. In the start of a new year many make New Years Resolutions.
What are Resolutions?
What do we make them?
Are more Resolutions failures or successes?

3. What would be the Biblical perspective on resolutions:
New Years Resolutions or New Years Revelations?

4. Does it feel good to put the past year away behind us?
Why?
Give some examples of why we would like to put a year behind us?

Let’s read Lamentations 3:22-23

22 Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed,
for his compassions never fail.
23 They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

Isaiah 43:15-21
15 I am the LORD, your Holy One, Israel's Creator, your King." 16 This is what the LORD says-- he who made a way through the sea, a path through the mighty waters,
17 who drew out the chariots and horses, the army and reinforcements together, and they lay there, never to rise again,
extinguished, snuffed out like a wick:
18 "Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.
19 See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.
20 The wild animals honor me, the jackals and the owls, because I provide water in the desert and streams in the wasteland,
to give drink to my people, my chosen,
21 the people I formed for myself that they may proclaim my praise.

5. Why is a “fresh start” part of God’s plan for mankind.

6. Some people never take advantage of the blessing of a fresh start, why is that?

7. Why is it important to put the past behind us?

Let’s read Titus 1:1

Titus 1:1 Paul, a servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ for the faith of God's elect and the knowledge of the truth that leads to godliness--

8. What was Paul’s big “fresh start”?

9. Paul after his conversion and “fresh start” took this chance seriously and got very busy doing the work he felt he had to do.
How is this an example for us who have received a “fresh start”?

Concluding Thoughts:

We all need new beginings. The fresh new begining of a new life in Christcannot be overstated in it's effect on individuals worldwide. New birth brings new growth. If we allow ourselves to look for fresh starts personally, we can see a growing fresh life in Christ.

We must also encourage and develop new starts and beginings in other lives also. These fresh starts and new beginings may be salvations, a Christian returning to a walk with God from a backslidden condition, or a choice to walk stronger in a new way.

Let's be a church of encouragement.

Let's be a church of new beginings.

Let's be a church in God's Will.

For further study: Read Philippians Three. Consider Paul's life before and after his conversion. Carefully outline this chapter and highlight the key points on moving forward in new beginings.

The church in God's Will seeks new beginings.
