Edgefest 1999: Day 2

Ok, I don't have much of a review for this show, no doubt in my mind, you know and I know
silverchair is the best. They amaze me and leave me in total awe after every show I watch
them play. It's my favorite thing to do, seeing them play gives me the most amazing rush,
it's indescribable, so I'll just give you a quick run-through my second day at Edgefest.

I had attended the show the day before at Molson Park, but here I was again back for more.
I couldn't believe I had front row, I ran like hell for that front row and I couldn't
believe I got it. But anyway, the rest of the bands before silverchair rocked, with the
exception of the Rasclaz, they're hip-hop and as far as I am concerned they should not be
at Edgefest, Edge 102 doesn't even play their music! But anyway, Wide Mouth Mason was
alright, I was very impressed with Edwin and Matthew Good just rocked. I was at the main-
stage all day, didn't leave until after silverchair's preformance because then I had to
leave right away to drive up to Ottawa because I was going to that show as well, it was
like Woodstock without all the dirt and expensive food. Mind you the July 1st show did
have a mud slide which was damn cool by my standards. And also, everyday featured silverchair.

Anyway, you don't wanna hear about that, you want to hear about silverchair, I don't
blame you. Ok, so they came on like 10-15 mins. late but who cares? They set up a cool
backdrop and everything on the second day. It was like 4 light blue poles with neon
lasers at the top and in between those 2 poles there were lights. They came on and
started with Slave, good opener, gets everyone into it, even if they aren't really
there to see silverchair. *stupid people* Then they did Freak, which surprised me cuz
I thought they'd save that till the end, then they did Abuse Me and I was like "yeah!
they're playing us Freak Show." Then they played Emotion Sickness, which is just awesome.
It has this engimatic feel to it, totally amazing. By this song I'd taken my full roll
of pictures, and my friend, didn't bring her cameras that day!!! I don't remember the
setlist after that, I just know they rocked hard. Daniel went crazy, Chris was
jumpin' and getting into it like a wild guy and Ben, well you know Ben. Best fuckin'
drummer in the world!! He was brutally smashing the shit outta those drums.

As expected, they ended with Anthem for the Year 2000, the song the crowd knew, cuz it
was getting a lot of radio play. Even those there were 25 000 less people the second
day it was still awesome. Daniel get the crowd into it, the typical clap your hands,
and say We Are The Youth thing, and that went over well. Then they walked off stage,
LOL and the crowd cleared, no one wanted to see Whore, I mean Hole. Well ok, not the
whole crowd cleared, but a lot of people left, I had a huge Hole fan right beside me,
so I let her have my spot seeing as it was the best place to be. Fuckin' awesome view,
no surfers. Man I'd KILL to be there again and re-live July 2nd. It was so cool.

So anyway, then me and my friend Gillian left Molson Park, we walked about a kilometre
to meet my mom and my other friend at the McDonalds so we could start the 7 hour drive
up to Ottawa. Sitting in a car that long SUCKS. But it yet again was all worth it.
Enjoy my awesome pictures from the front row baby!
