Philosophies?:
It always makes sense, whenever possible, to neutralize the source of a hazard, -- rather than inspect, abate, cover and forever hope that they will never return. You see, under the law, corporations are responsible for the materials they produce, FOREVER. When it gets trucked away to the "landfill", they still own it and can still be held liable for any damage it does or future cleanup of the landfill if their "packaging" fails. This is a HUGE liability in itself, -- not to mention the cost of treating people injured by these materials while at the workplace.
So, what if you had a "magic bullet" you could shoot at environmental hazards to make them harmless?! This is what our company provides.
Ozone?!:
Ozone (O3) or trivalent Oxygen is one of the most misrepresented molecules we have ever studied. Who is most responsible for this misrepresentation? Our government is ! Because high levels of ozone are often found outdoors in polluted air, the federal government has "therefore concluded" that ozone is a part of air pollution. The truth is quite the contrary: You see, when sunlight interacts with airborne organics (carbon based pollutants) and oxygen -- ozone is produced. This explains why polluted outdoor air contains higher levels of ozone than "mountain air (which still has background ozone levels for your information)". However, to stop looking at the process at that point (as does the government), would be a serious error in the scientific method. Why? Well once the ozone has been created, it goes about dismantling the other airborne chemicals (which are the REAL POLLUTANTS) -- breaking them down into simpler substances, -- most of which are harmless and exist naturally in the air. Ozone does not neutralize all forms of airborne pollutants, -- but it does most of them. Ironically then, the government is on a campaign to reduce ground-level, atmospheric ozone concentrations; -- the very ingredient in air responsible for cleaning it !
Analogy:
Ozone is to air as salt (NaCl) is to water. Small amounts are easily tolerated and even necessary for life. Larger amounts can become a nuisance or even dangerous. (However, ozone, with a very short half life, will even react with itself leaving only simple oxygen (O2) within a matter of a few minutes.
2(O3) ---> 3(O2) And, without the million+ lux of sunlight to recreate ozone indoors, inside air is soon exhausted of this natural cleanser. As a result, indoor pollution levels are constantly on the rise !)
News Flash:
July of 1997 was the month that the US FDA approved the use of ozone in the food preservation process citing that it had been clearly shown to inhibit the growth of germs. This should be no big surprise, since ozone has been used for this in Europe for decades now. To it's credit Los Angeles now purifies their water in their water treatment facilities with ozone. Also stated was the fact that proper use of ozone for food preservation has no harmful by-products. It has been well documented that adding small amounts of ozone to air reduces spoilage of perishables and extends the shelf life of many foods after the container has been breached.
