Brian Wilson Concert--October 14, 2001

Brian Wilson
4th Annual Carl Wilson Walk Against Cancer Benefit Concert
El Rey Theater, Los Angeles, CA
October 14, 2001

Brian and the band managed to squeak some surprises into this appearance at the 4th Annual Carl Wilson Walk Against Cancer Benefit Concert. The concert began with two rarely (if ever) performed numbers: "Meant For You" and "Friends", both from the "Friends" album. "Lay Down Burden" appropriately makes a return to the setlist here, and is coupled with "Forever", probably as a tribute to Carl and Dennis. The encore was pretty standard in terms of song selection.

A rather short set, since Brian was one of many performers. Other performers included: The Honeys, Carnie and Wendy Wilson, In Bloom, Timothy B. Schmit, Robert Lamm, Joe Walsh, and America. The house band featured many familiar faces: Billy Hinsche, James Guercio, Jeffrey Foskett, Matt Jardine, Bobby Figueroa, Scott Bennett, Gary Griffin, Jeff "Skunk" Baxter, and Todd Sucherman.

Brian Wilson
