A historic show: Al Jardine makes his first musical appearance with another Beach Boy since 1998. This was the kick-off show for a short Pet Sounds mini-tour that was being heralded as the "farewell" Pet Sounds tour. Another mini-tour of California followed in January.
Denise Stempien writes: "The opening band for this show was British band Scritti Politti. Brian and the band came out and did an acoustic set at center stage. Towards the end of "You're Welcome" Al Jardine joined the gang to thunderous applause. Al took lead vocals on a few songs and Brian took over on bass during Barbara Ann and Surfin' USA. It was a fabulous show and so great seeing Brian and Al together."
Gary Griffin, who had substituted for Darian Sahanaja earlier in the year, was also present.
