C-Man writes: "The previous night, the group played in Ft. Myers, apparently with Brian. But according to Steven Gaines' sordid biography "Heroes and Villains", Brian's nurse/girlfiend, Carolyn Williams, was arrested for drug possession at the Ft. Myers airport this morning as the group boarded a plane for Tampa and tonight's show in St. Pete. Her arrest was reported on "Entertainment Tonight", and probably explains Brian's absence from the St. Pete show. Of note: in the absence of both Brian and Carl, Bruce assumes the lead vocal on "God Only Knows". Jeff Foskett, who joined the band only 3 months earlier, plays some BLISTERING lead guitar, and handles the lead vocal on "Good Vibrations" (sounding in places like he's doubled by Bruce or Al). On this early-'82 tour they were a lot more open to requests than usual (indicating that they were growing as tired at their routine setlist as Carl had become). "Catch A Wave", missing in action since the previous summer, is performed at this show in response to a request (someone requested "Wendy", but Mike declined because "noboby's heard that one in years!"). According to Foskett, they had also performed "I Can Hear Music" somewhere in Florida on this tour, with him singing lead, at the request of their manager, Tom Hulett, who was sitting in the first row. Two nights later, in Westbury, NY, they did "Wouldn't It Be Nice", "Darlin'", and a portion of "Graduation Day" to fulfill audience requests."
