C-Man writes about what happened before "Be My Baby": "Afterwards, Brian announced 'I'm pickin' up some good vibes about a guy named Jerry...is there a Jerry McMullen in the crowd tonight? If so Jerry, stand up and tell us what song you'd like us to do.' Jerry responded with 'Surfer Girl'. Brian ignored this and instead said 'Be My Baby'? You got it!''...During the middle of this song, Jerry proposed to his girlfriend and afterwards somebody on stage asked 'Did she say yes?' Apparently she did."
