Yadda yadda yadda The last part. Finally! Valentine's Day, part 7 by Tamani R. Green 10:13 a.m. Calumet Mercy Hospital Mulder and Amy sat in a waiting room. The sat facing each other on opposite sides of the room. Scully had been rushed to emergency surgery. Peter had gotten lucky and sliced a major artery. The two had been silent, although Mulder's agile brain whirled with a thousand questions. Finally he spoke. "Amy?" "Hmm?" "How did you come back? When we found you, you were - pardon the expession - deader than a doornail." "Facing down Peter was something I had to do. And not even death could keep me from it." "What do you mean?" "There are larger forces out there than even you may be able to comprehend. I'm just here, doing what I'm supposed to do." "And what is that?" "I don't know yet. But until whatever purpose I am here for is done, I just have to go with it." She got up, went to Mulder and knelt facing away from him. Sweeping aside her hair, he saw the small mark at the back of her neck. Amy stood and faced him, a small smile on her face. "You too?" "Yep. A feeble attempt to stop whatever it is I'm supposed to do. Just like Agent Scully. They almost got her, you know." Thinking back to that time she was missing and the agonizing days before she regained consciousness, he quietly said, "I know." "Today was a test. And I passed it. It proved something, I don't know what. I suspect I'll find out in the days to come. Just as Scully has a purpose here that keeps her alive." She went and sat back down in her chair. Mulder looked at Amy like he'd never seen her before. And the doctor who operated on Scully came in. Mulder got up to talk to him. Amy looked at the two of them with a smile on her face. The doctor told Mulder that Scully was going to be all right. She had lost a lot of blood but she was going to be good as new in no time. "Did you hear that Amy? Scully's gonna be all right." "I heard. Good. All is as it should be." She got up and walked by him. "Goodbye, Agent Mulder. Tell Agent Scully I said both hello and goodbye." She started off down the hallway. She turned back about halfway to the doors. "By the way, Happy Valentine's Day, Agent Mulder." And she walked out of the hospital. End. I know, I know. Somewhat unsatisfactory, but what else was I to do without it descending into pure, unadulterated cheeze?
