Back to PreviewsCaesar III
(STRATEGY) Like previous in Caesar games, in Caesar III you'll be able to build and maintain a thriving Roman city, develop armies, defend your territory against invading neighbors, or take over the empire by exploiting resources and charming the emperor for power and promotion. But the developers of the Caesar series, Impressions, listened to their fans and have changed two major areas of the game. First, an entire province will be shown on one large map for more seamless gameplay. Rather than monitoring separate city, countryside, and battle screens, all of the game's action will take place on one level, effecting combat in such a way that you instead of sending troops off to an anonymous battlefield, there will be street-to-street fighting if your defensive measures fail. The other new feature in Caesar III is that the real-time effects of your actions are immediately visible on-screen, instead of having to go to report screens to assess your strengths and weaknesses in various aspects of governance as before. For example, unemployment and rioting in the city will be instantly apparent, as you'll see citizens sitting around or rampaging through the streets. You will also be able to chat with any citizen for useful information about the success and failure of the city - sort of your own private survey.
