Daikatana

(ACTION) As the mastermind behind id Software's Doom and Quake, John Romero is a bit of a star in the games industry. When he decided to leave id and set up his own company ION Storm, the questions were: would his game be as good as Quake, and could id survive without his input. While it appears that id is still doing very nicely with Quake II, Romero's first project, Daikatana, has been suffering from delays. Featuring four very different episodes, each with its own graphical style, 64 monsters, 32 weapons and a storyline more twisted than the Gordian knot, Daikatana looks a long way from being just another Quake clone. Although based on the Quake II engine, it has enough innovative touches to give it a completely different feel. There are two main points which separate Daikatana from Quake II: first, that your character will always be accompanied by two artificially intelligent companions, and secondly that, as in an RPG, you will gain experience points which you can use to improve your character.
