Back to PreviewsFallout 2
(ROLE PLAYING) The RPG world has its eyes turned towards this sequel to last year's surprise hit, Fallout. Although Fallout designer Tim Cain helped get the project started, his departure, along with two members of the original title's art staff has caused a lot of curiosity about the sequel's ability to live up to its predecessor. Fortunately, the signs we've seen so far all point to a great game. Fallout 2 claims to have upgraded AI for both opponents and NPCs, added new enemies (including better droids and carnivorous plants) as well as adding the ability to drive a car! Better still, fans of the original title will be overjoyed to find that players can now add super-mutants, robo-dogs and ghouls to their party and also have the ability to equip NPCs with new weapons and armor or to even improve their skills and abilities. The plot of the game begins 50 years after the end of the original Fallout. As the Chosen One, a direct descendant of the main character in Fallout, the player must leave his village in order to seek out the legendary Vault 13, the home of his ancestors. The game, which is expected to release in October of 1998, is sure to have a crowd gathered around it on the show floor. Stay tuned to E3 News for the latest updates on new creatures, weapon items, and our overall impressions on the title.
