Half-Life

(ACTION) Sure, it has amazing graphics, but so do a lot of other games that take advantage of the wonders of 3D accelerator technology. In Half-Life, as in a number of the newest 3D shooters, realistic bullet holes will be left on the walls, and, if you're inclined to vandalize, you can even spray paint on anything. Other technological advances include 16-bit color, amazing lighting effects, and other environmental effects, such as translucency, dynamic textures, and metallic surfaces. Also like many new games, Half-Life also has an engrossing story to really draw the player into the game. In Half-Life, you discover a dimensional portal, so you decide to open it up and probe around around. Big mistake, because something took the opportunity to come on through. You and your coworkers are confronted with the strangest creatures you've ever seen. Now you have to contain or destroy these creatures before they can do any more harm. Worse yet, the CIA is sending in a squad of "Cleaners" to shut you down and cover up the whole mess. And government operatives, unaware of the thermonuclear weapons housed inside the facility, have begun to plant explosives to destroy the base. But Half-Life combines the great graphics and storyline with an attitude and style that few games can achieve. It looks amazing, it sounds like a blast...hey, when can we play it? The game is, unfortunately, long overdue, and it's next release date is for sometime this summer.
