Back to NewsWarhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate
SSI SSI returns to the sci-fi universe with Warhammer 40,000: ChaosGate. Unlike Final Liberation, which was essentially a direct port of the tabletop game, Chaos Gate will employ a modified version of the turn-based tactical combat engine used in Soldiers at War. Players will control a squad of up to 12 marines as they battle through a plot-driven, 18-mission campaign, or take on any number of randomly generated missions. Beyond gameplay that will appeal to fans of X-COM and Jagged Alliance, SSI is promising some slick visual and audio effects in Chaos Gate. Weapon effects, including laser cannons, psyker effects, and flamethrowers, will be rendered in 3D, and should create a more engaging visual environment than the so-so graphics in Final Liberation. Chaos Gate will also give players the opportunity to customize their own missions using a full-featured editor which can create both single and multi-player scenarios. Slated for a July release, Chaos Gate is in the final developmental stages.
