This photo was taken at the reception after a (yes) wonderful semi-staged production of
Berlioz' "Beatrice et Benedict" by Opera Francais de New York at Alice Tully Hall.
Yves Abel led a terrific performance, highlighted by Miss Futral's singing of the part of Hero.
Her solos were beautiful, but for me the highlight was a duet with one of the mezzos that was
absolutely exquisite.
I also heard her Mathilde di Shabran in Pesaro in August 1996, a personal triumph for her
in an almost-impossible role.
