The history of clowns has been
hidden by those who preform this evil art.
The start of clowning in Europe
"I have read, that 'clowning' started back
in ancient Rome...in the Colosseum. When some
'enemy' was killed, a man would run out and skin
the dead persons head. Then, he would put that skin
over his own face and dance around, mocking the
slain person, making fun of his death (much to the
delight of the crowds)! So, that explains the
(blood) red lips and nose, and the dark eyes (later
drawn like a cross, like a dead person's eyes in
drawings).Ever hear of this??? It sure explains why
we are NATURALLY afraid of them! The represent
DEATH!"
True, European clowns did start as mocking of the dead, dieing, and the tortured.
Such as "The Globe" a prisoner was placed in a large hallo metal sphere.
A fire was started under the globe and the crowed would cheer to the screams as clowns danced and re-enacted other
executions.
Thanks Cindy.
The start of clowning in The United States of America
In North America alown there are at least three distinct types of clowns.
The Mexican, the French Canadian, and the U.S. clown.
The French Canadian clown's roots can be traced back to Europe.
The Mexican clown came from a mix of native foke lore Spanish and German clowns.
